I don't understand this reasoning that Blizzard will announce the beta during their conference call on the 10th. This conference is about money, stocks, business. Blizzard's shareholders are keenly aware that one of the biggest games of all time has been in development for years, and the beta hasn't even started yet.
If Blizzard were to mention that the SC2 beta is going to start 'soon' during this meeting, I predict audible facepalming and a chorus of "WE KNOW". If they announce a date, or even that it starts on the 10th, the shareholders will ask why Blizzard waited until the 10th to kick the beta out the door.
No, they won't do that. Shareholders want results, not promises. The best possible news that Blizzard can give its investors is that the SC2 beta has STARTED, not that it's GOING TO START.

Or it could be something completely new, or even a new (useless) gamemechanic ; the misile turrets are now fully customizable, the user can now decide , if they rotate clockwise or anticlockwise, bringing a whole new level of customization.

They have to communicate between various authorities don't they? Wouldn't there be some kind of public record regarding them airing something like a battle report?
