No wonder I couldn't see it. It's only in the EU site.

Whenever upgrading my PC, I just go for whatever's in the $100 price range for each component. So in this case, a PNY (favorite manufacturer of mine) GeForce 9800.

Just be sure you've got an adequate power supply (500 watts+, $60+), otherwise you'll get both blue screens of deaths and eventually an overheated graphics card / hard drive.

If you don't have a dual-core computer, I would seriously consider it. In general, most games optimized for two cores or more run 50% faster. There currently is almost no performance gain for having more than two cores, but that's because current games haven't been optimized yet to take advantage of the additional horse power. If you want something immediate, go dual core. If you're looking to future-proof the PC, quad core will carry it through the next three years or so.

www.tigerdirect.com I've used for years and is a very reliable source of computer components. Edit: Tiger Direct does currently have a deal on free shipping for orders over $100 with the weight not exceeding $25.

www.newegg.com I've also used on occasion, usually when TigerDirect doesn't have the parts I'm looking for. No complaints, they even do returns fairly well.

so, out of curiosity, how often do you upgrade then if you always shoot for the 100 dollar range.

It might be really good if SCL could put together a SC2 upgrade/buyers guide.

    Just a suggestion

I honestly don't think it's necessary with 90% of people having better than minimum

I would say a beta preparation guide is more due. which im kinda writing up via my 2nd thread

2-4 years, depending on the current shift towards a particular technology.

But thats minimum specs not optimal. There are alot of people who have been waiting (years) for SC2 to upgrade.

Honestly you're probably in good hands if you just get on Newegg and get the best rated card (with decent # of ratings) in your price range.
