meh
ps - I agree that practically speaking, windows are a very bad idea on spaceships, but imo they do add a cinematic aspect. even protoss ships in the manga are often depicted with large windows. besides, supposedly the protoss rely on shields for protection from radiation and attack, so windows would only add to the delicate-looking design many of their ships possess.

Windows on Starships are far from the only mistakes regularly made in the genre.

This is what im talking about. I dont blame you Triceron, your part of a greater population that doesnt realize how ridiculous it is to have every alien be a variation on the human body plan with maybe bird feet thrown in for good effect.
Out of all of those only the Hanar pass the mustard.

Actually, that's contrary to belief.
It's not that people who create aliens don't know better when coming up with ideas that are truly 'alien' and not humanoid, but rather giving human characteristics allows people to familiarize themselves with something that is freakish or foreign. To our knowledge, humans are the only sapient creatures in the world, in the galaxy, in the universe. When we characterize another sapient race, we expect to see something similar to us humans.
There may be a billion types of weird looking creatures in these fictional settings. We see other humanoid species the most because we associate humanoids as sapient.
It's not to say you can't have every race look completely non-humanoid and unique, but it has its own set of problems. If you cast a space opera with a dozen different looking races, and the Humans are the only humanoids, then you run the risk of Humans looking more like Aliens than the Aliens.
