Hmm, looks like now I'M the one who misread a post. I thought he was trying to make some weird distinction between aiming/slating/planning. I didn't notice he left out "first half." Heh, that one was my fault! I'm going crazy.

Beta not being ready merely means its not out yet. Beta could start tomorrow and technically its "not ready" today. Its just a non-committal phrase that Blizzard clearly likes to use.

Seriously, if you went by what Blizzard said then Diablo 3 was not ready to be announced (or even in development) less than a week before it's announcement.

Two days ago, the biggest Russian gaming expo IgroMir began, which was also attended by Blizzard representatives. During the event, StarCraft II was available to the public and a panel by Chris Sigaty, lead producer on StarCraft II, was held. The Russian gaming website Goha.ru wrote a summary of the panel. Currently, there is no official translation of the information and the majority of it is merely a recap of what was said during BlizzCon earlier this year. However, Sigaty has confirmed that the StarCraft II beta has been pushed back to 2010.

It was the beta that was meant for the first half of 2010, not the game. So, unless there's something newer than Nov 9th that I missed or forgot, the game sure as hell ain't comin' out before July.

EDIT: Honestly, I don't expect to see the game until late 2010 at the earliest.

Triceron, I don't think ANYONE is taking this as a set-in-stone date. Earlier I specifically said that even Blizzard is not a guaranteed reliable source, but it's the best we have.

Right now, our best possible source tells us beta will start in February. It's far from guaranteed, but it's the best source we're going to have until the actual beta is on our hard drives.

Firstly, thanks Gifted for these gifts, I'm enjoying this thread immensely!

Now for some speculation. 1000. That is the number that was announced would be randomly selected for beta keys during the closing remarks at Blizzcon. Video, fast forward to 1:00. Just a coincidence I noticed, probably nothing but it's speculation none the less.

As far as the newest gift "internal" maybe internal testing of b.net 2 is complete, or very near completion.

Triceron, I don't think ANYONE is taking this as a set-in-stone date.

You specifically used the word slated. This means scheduled, designated. They specifically said targetted, which means they simply aim to hit that date, not a set deadline.

I'm making that distinction clear, because others can misinterpret a semantic slip as fact.

Just to reiterate from a ninja edit before, and to make my point clear for everyone about any possible expectations: Blizzard is our best source, and even they can be unreliable, but if they're still on target then the beta should begin in February. If March hits and we're still in the dark then

The title of that thread was Beta in Q2 2010. If beta comes out in Q2, it is impossible for the game to come out in the first half of 2010.
