Oh definitely, that's quite intentionally obvious though

And yet it took a page for someone to point the rocks out...

Only because no one here believed you would say something that was already so obvious... I mean, putting stuff in the way of expansions and blocking paths was only done in a multitude of different ways in ICCUP maps...

I'm pointing it to prove this another vapid and pointless thread, and should be locked immediately.

If path-blockers are such a common feature, and have been used to achieve map balance in SC1, then why couldn't they be used as such in in Sc2?

    Oh wait, they are!

Putting the rocks at expos single-handedly denies Terran their so-called "great advantage on island maps."

This thread is a joke, and you've all been baited.

    Touche. That was stylish, squid.

So with that thing about the rocks, every race has to land their units on those islands, and destroy the blockade, or tech up until air units, eliminatiing any advantage of any race????

Thats something that SC was missing right???

Map balance is in a per map basis. It does not mean that if the map has an island expo, terrans already have the advantage.

The terrans simply have the sliiight advantage of remotely building the command center, which is also an advantage even if the map does not have island expos.

That is why balanced maps are also a part of a balancing the game. What is needed is more means for a mapmaker to balance a map, so that, as the race balance evolves the maps can adjust with them to.

Play Protoss? Look for the map Photon Cannon Tactics in the NA server!

    Enter racially unique macro mechanics.

Personally I don't see the Zerg as being particularly weak on island maps, they still have the OL for unit transport, and they now also get Excrete Creep, Nydus Worm (like Nydus Canals, but cheaper and only need one founding point), and can deny whole islands with a single OL/Queen Combo (Excrete Creep + Creep Tumor).

Yeah, i think that the creep drop is what puts the zergs into the same situation. Just as the protoss warp in is.

While I am ironically adding another post to this thread, I do believe it should have ended here. ^^
