Thread: The "you" in the game

Default The "you" in the game

As you all remember, the story in sc1 was portrayed through the briefings in such way, that you felt, as you were an part of the game.
In the zerg campaign you were an new cerebrate.
And in the protoss campaign it apeared, as you were the supreme comander.

Not so shure about the terran one, always wondered who the player is sopoused to be?

So i'm wondering for sc2, who are you supoused to be?
I'm exspecialy wondering for the zerg, where Kerrigan killed all of the cerebrates. So there is the question, who could you be, if not an cerebrate?

    Any thoughts?

I belive you don't play as "anyone". You just see it through the main leads perspective- e.g Raynor.

I believe you were supposed to be the magistrate in the Terran campaign. Could be wrong as I haven't played the game in a long time but I think I'm right.

I don't mind the change but I have to admit it was pretty cool to be in the story as someone. But I do admit that it will be easier to tell the story without the nameless character you played in the previous games.

Eeeeehhhhh.... That was said years ago, you take the role of Raynor in the Terran campaign. The other ones isn't clear how they're going to be played.

You see things like if it's a movie. You control what Raynor does, but not on 1st person perspective.

    SC1:
    — Terran — Colonel Magistrate (Confed.) and then Commander (Sons of Korhal)
    — Zerg — Not-named Cerebrate
    — Protoss — Executor

    SC1BW:
    — Protoss — Executor (same from previous)
    — Terran — Captain (UED)
    — Zerg — Not-named Cerebrate (possibly the same one as before, but not likely)

Both the Magistrate and Executor are most likely still alive, however the Captain and Cerebrates are most likely dead, since the vast majority of the UED was wiped out and iirc Kerrigan doesn't use any Cerebrates (at least not the old ones from the Overmind).

    Some changes to n00bs:

    SC1:
    — Terran — In Liberty's Crusade, there was no magistrate. He existed, but played no part (except maybe earlier in a part we didn't get to see). Raynor did all his stuff w/ Mike Liberty. That's why that character is now a plot hole.
    — Zerg — Unnamed Cerebrate which got killed by Tassadar.
    — Protoss — Artanis

    SC1BW:
    — Protoss — Executor nobody knows about. Maybe Selendis.
    — Terran — Captain (UED)
    — Zerg — This character probably didn't exist.

It seems a shame that they’d leave some of these “player” characters as small plot holes- they seem easy roles to fill after all.

    I think it was so:
    StarCraft
-Terran Campaign: James Raynor, then Sarah Kerrigan, and one time Edmund Duke.
-Zerg Campaign: A cerebrate OR the Overmind itself and his minions Daggoth and Zasz.
    -Protoss Campaign: Artanis

    StarCraft Brood Wars
    -Protoss Campaign: Artanis
-Terran Campaign: Actually, Stukov and DuGalle themselves, and the traitor Duran.
    -Zerg Campaign: Kerrigan

Just as Blizzard retconned the Mar Sara Magistrate away as practically non-existant or the nameless Executor being Artanis all along, I think that all the achievements of the UED in "The Iron Fist" come from DuGalle and his pal, Stukov, and there was no UED Captain who did all this.

That's actually pretty old, confirmed information.
