Yes, but I said they looked too graceful. I mean they practically took the the Illidan walk form WC3 and tacked it on. They tippy-toe around the battlefield and run covering their faces with psi blades as opposed to the "imma-bust-yo-Zerg-ass" posture.

They lost this growling ferocity that they emit from SC1.

The more brutish feel would lend to the fact that they are attacking with the assurance that their essence will evaporate and merge with the Khala.

Deadly-Looking grace is much better than plain grace.

There is a big problem with the Carrier model adding to the problem that it looks like a random cookie cutter sci-fi ship now and not at all protossy. Blizzards sole stated motivation for bringing the Carrier back was for its iconic value, and so having a model for it that looks nothing like the old iconic Carrier makes absolutely no sense.

I'm not satisfied with the Roach's attacking animation, it makes their axes completely calefe, they should make the axes come out like tentacles in their current short range distance. Infested marines should have bio rifles attached to their right arm just like from sc ghost model. Oh yea and the lurker model too ==

the hellion buggy really sucks looks like a remote controlled car. 3 wheels or less is better. no wheels is the best.

old carrier was terrible. looks like a flying banana now.

lurker. if its tier 3 make it really HUGE, with a really different look from the other zerg units, new attack animation and probably give it a name change (like the new lurker evolution).

Xerg still have 6 old attack untis returning. bad.

i like the idea of changing skins to the landscape. that idea is very appealing. and, i'd like to see more colour difference on zerg units. they always just look like a mush of pink and brown to me.

i feel like an arse for saying this, but what also bugs me is the immortal. the sleekness of protoss is lost in the transition from artwork to model. the guns on the immortal are better in the artwork imo

When you really think about it... and I mean really think about it... All of us would play the game the way it looks (right now) for up to 10 years if the content is sufficient and the gameplay is grand. So yeah, I wouldn't really give a damn if they put most of their resources into everything other than the animations and graphics at this point.

I will say one thing though, one thing people overlook when they think about why Starcraft 1 was so great was really its sound and music. The voice-acting and the ambiance and hearing the repetitive fighting noises really made the game awesome.

I remember showing Starcraft 1 to a friend a good year ago that never really played it or got into it. He was a big Diablo 2 guy though. I remember showing him some action on Blood Bath really quick and showing him Zealots and other Protoss units fighting marines and I told him to put the headphones on and just listen. He listened and was really amazed at how vicious and grueling the fight sounded, with the Zealots grunting and slashing with all the gunfire going off all over the place. Plus the Zealots themselves sounded really tough and well, zealous!

I think the voice-acting in SC2 will be good, but if they bring back that same magic and have the units feel that convincing and menacing while keeping that 'ole Blizzard humor intact, I'll be sold.

I think units look pretty good, and a lot better than they did back in 2007, 2008, and early '09. I wouldn't be surprised if there were more updates that we didn't know about (I remember reading somewhere that mercenaries were supposed to be given unique models instead of taking the model of whatever type of unit they were supposed to be).

I do mind the carrier model tho, it just looks to sleek and sexy now instead of the intimidating and more hefty version it had in SC1. Rather, what I mean to say is (haven't had my coffee yet, lol) the carriers current model is from the Tempest, the old Dark Templar ship, that was also NOT the protoss capital ship...back then it was the Warp Ray (if I remember). When they made the switch, they made the warp ray the void ray and took away its captial ship status and gave it back to the carrier, but left the carrier with its sub-capital model, only repainted it.

The sound was great, but when I got into competitive play a bit I turned the music off and just focused on the sound effects and all the interesting and important things that can be heard with headphones.

This topic comes up time and time again. But here's something to ponder over... When Blizzard first announced SC2, I vaguely remember them mentioning that one of the first things they did was recreate SC1's units in SC2's 3D engine. Even if this is not the case, given the number of design passes that have been made, odds are high that someone would have ported the old Carrier design into 3D for evaluation at some point or other. Seeing as how Blizzard's stuck to the current one (as far as I know) despite using the old 'Carrier' name, this suggests to me that the SC1 design simply doesn't work (or that they like the new one better). Contrary to what some people think, Blizzard is not purposefully creating ugly units and making annoying decisioons that are meant to create a bad, crappy game out of spite and for the sole purpose of annoying and infuriating their fans (e.g. you).
