It is, however, a far more dramatic change than any other returning unit has seen, and is, IMO, a substandard design for the unit in comparison to either the old on or this:

Come on Blizzard, make a design that looks like a decent warship rather than the, admittedly beautiful, but non-functional look it's currently got.

Considering they’ve already redesigned the mothership, carrier would be likely to be redesigned as well.

They did not redesign the Mothership. They simply gave it a coat of polish: better textures, somewhat improved shaders, etc.

Redesign is what happened to the Infestor.

The infested mode for every unit is easily doable with scripting in the editor. That's how it was done for the Corruptor and the Infestor's original abilities.

But yeah, I agree with the idea (this was done in RA3 and C&C4), but it will only delay the game and the beta, and will make things potentially more confusing in MP.

EDIT: Woah, just realized this was an older thread...And I guess they could work on graphics for the expansions, like with D2 and WoW...

Kudos to Arkceangel for the Terran avatar and sig!

Nicols right on this one. Out of curousity has there been a recent poll about the carrier skin?

They lost this growling ferocity that they emit from SC1.

The more brutish feel would lend to the fact that they are attacking with the assurance that their essence will evaporate and merge with the Khala.

Deadly-Looking grace is much better than plain grace.

I'd agree, there's something about the original movement and attack animation of the Protoss Zealot that made the units simply terrifying to see coming into your base. The new ones... just don't have the same feeling?

I feel that the debates on artwork will be more specific and detailed once the beta hits, hopefully resulting in a shift towards capturing the essence of the original game while still keeping the overall look "modern" for the kiddies.

Ignoring the absolutely towering elitism of that last statement, there is the simple and practical fact that Beta will precede launch by, at most, 6 months. That's not a lot of time to go revamping everything.

There will be tweaks and improvements. Even those on the level of the new Mothership. And certainly animation changes are entirely reasonable and legitimate for the Beta period. But if the art style doesn't capture "the essence of the original game" overall to your satisfaction when Beta hits, it's probably never going to. Again, to your satisfaction.

Kinda makes me wonder what will be locked down and what is changeable as policy by Blizzard when Beta starts... do we have info on that? Will we be informed as to what we can and can't push changes for?

Play Protoss? Look for the map Photon Cannon Tactics in the NA server!

You can suggest anything you want, there's absolutely nothing that will be left unheard. They want the feedback.

Whether Blizzard decides to act upon the requests is completely up to them. They make the final decision. Case in point, Zergling with wings. Blizzard knows some fans don't like it, but they have final say on keeping the wings.

Oh boohoo, wrong usage of words. Remodelled. Sheesh. Who cares, I feel like it was redesigned.
