    Default Reapers: Grenades or Mines?

    Here are four reasons why I think the reaper's D8 charge should be replaced by D8 grenades.

    1) More Realistic
    Which is easier to swallow? That the reapers are carrying around a grenade belt or that reapers are carrying around a bunch of large flat mines.

    2) Grenades are Cooler
    Enough said. Except of course in Golden Eye 64 but that game pushed allot of limits.

    3) Game already has Mines
    Vultures have been confirmed to be in Starcraft 2single player and its safe to say that means spider mines are as well. The game already has a mines but no grenades.

    4)They are Grenades in all but name and model anyway
    Mines are explosive devises that you throw on the ground and are activated when the enemy comes in proximity.Grenades are explosive devices that are thrown at the enemy that explode after a time limit.

    So basically this is all just an art suggestion?

    No thanks, grenades are boring. I'll stick to the mines which are more VISIBLE, clear, and look like they can pack a lot more power than a grenade which is TINY, hard to see, and obviously less powerful than a mine. Plus, your suggestions are moot points. If the grenades are to be visible and targetable, they can't roll around (which real grenades tend to do), they have to be large (which then makes your point about Reapers carrying large mines is silly moot) and they should also show some kind of visible timer... which ultimately makes it not even look like a proper grenade anymore.

    Grenades would make more sense since the reapers are throwing them, not planting them. Your argument with time also makes sense. Throwing a mine seems odd. Its also just an art change, so sure.

    I think that soon after Beta Starts, Blizzard will change Reaper's mines to not affect Buildings, because it screams Overpower from them...

    The Reaper only has the mines so it can effectively attack buildings, because its attack is focused against light units like the Firebat was. The only thing the unit is good for is raiding, and it needs to do that very well. The fact the mines can be used for a few other purposes like covering a retreat is just icing on the cake.

    Grenades can be visible.

    So basically you just want to rip off Halo's sticky grenades, and then stick a timer on them? This is an RTS game, little glowing balls < Charges with big explosions.

    No you can make it uniquely Starcraft.

    Right, so basically what else could you add to it to make it uniquely Starcraft? Change it to a yellow glow? The Halo grenade is nothing but a glowing ball.
