Lol i suggested the same idea two pages back, and you called it all stupid. The hypocracy

Back to being serious, obviously i like this idea, and i think going from 10,3,1 to 10,5,3,1 would be a good enough upgrade. it's potentialy 5 more damage, which is not to bad

It's not a meaningful change. Might as well just up the damage on the Muta overall.

It 'is' a meaningful change because it now hits 4 targets, not just 3.

As far as damage distribution goes, it actually just fronts more damage on the subsequent targets, that additional 1 damage to a fourth doesn't make much of a difference. Those first three damage-buffed hits makes them better at clustered units like Marines that are supposed to counter Mutas.

Mutalisks have AoE for a reason. If Marines are supposed to counter them, why would they need AoE?

protoss counter mutas with stalkers/air zerg counter with lings/hydras
terrans counter with thors/rines zerg counter with roaches
zerg counter hyrdas and i dont know what counter to that with

I don't know the original intent of the Muta attack, but Marines are supposed to be an answer to Mutas. Buffing Muta damage to the 2nd and 3rd target so they can go toe to toe with Marines seems to be a step in the opposite direction.

And yet, Marines get a +10 Hp upgrade. It'd be nice to have something to balance that out, while also letting Mutalisks be useful for something late-game than just as snipers.

terrans counter with thors/rines zerg counter with roaches
I don't know how the current Roaches are the right answer to that, since Thors do lots of single-target damage and Marines can focus-fire to add to that and kill Roaches. And Roaches don't hurt Thors back very much.

The answer is supposed to be Roaches, but I can't imagine that actually working (not with the current Roach). More like, you need Banelings + Infestors with that ensnare thing.

Not really sure if +1 bounce really counters marines. I mean if you simply boosted the muta's damage, you pretty much get the same effect without being gimmicky.

What makes a damage upgrade (outside of the +1 attack upgrade) less "gimmicky" than adding an extra bounce with some damage modification?
