Again, The lurker is a great 3rd teir unit.
It definately won't be used the way it was in Starcraft 1, so lets keep it and come up with some innovative strategies for them.
You guys are thinking Starcraft gameplay, but the lurker is a much different unit in SC2, in my opinion.

I'm not talking about the purpose of the Lurker. I'm talking about the purpose of having it be a unit that burrows.

Making it into a unit that can move AND attack while burrowed just means it's a permanently cloaked unit. It just makes it so much more bland. In my opinion at least.

There arnt any other difference between cloak and burrow? Especially for a unit that cant attack above ground and would persumably move slower underground then above.

    Not any definitive ones.

Having it either be mobile and helpless or stationary and invisible and powerful is an interesting gameplay phenomenon. Having it be mobile and helpless or... slightly less mobile, but invisible and powerful isn't as interesting.

It doesn't really change the unit that dramatically, and I think all it really accomplishes is marginalizing it.

    Fair nough.

The moving while burrowed is the mechanic that the zergs need, just like the protoss Warp in. It just need to be balanced and tested but it cant be done. This is the kind of mechanics that SC2 needs to take its place among the new generations, just like SC1 did at its time.

I suppose the people that don't like a mechanics like this one are the same old granpas that think that the mutas "stacking" is a really strategy mechanic, when it was really some sort of glitch of the old SC1 engine.

I say: Give the Lurker burrowed movement. Its tier 3, and by the time its available to u, all ur enemies will have their "superpowered" tier 3 units... And as far as i know, zergs dont have cliff climber units... so this could replace that.

Honestly, it's not anti-infantry so much as it is anti-melee.

I see very, very little overlap between the two units.
Actually, after writing a long post in another thread, I changed my mind on the subject, you are right. The lurker in starcraft 2 atm, imo, is more of a map control/dps kinda thing while the roach is your tank and meat shield for charging into a lower tier enemy.

Frell, frack, and fudge the Lurker. Ive been for replacing it since the start.

Nerf the lurker and put it back at tier-2, then give it a range upgrade available at the hive.

Lots of problem solved that way.
