Correction: Imagine DT's with line splash, after getting hit by Ensnare.

Of course, they'd be visible, but my point is that they'd be too slow to be as deadly as the DT.

Actually, imagine an immobile, cloaked Stalker. That would actually be closer to what I was talking about.

Too slow to be as deadly?

They are ranged line splashing units. Do you consider a siege tank in siege mode too slow to be deadly as well?

Consume, dammit! Those poor Zerglings never stood a chance. I'm all for the whole "Infestors can never possibly kill anything" idea, it's just snare doesn't have the same gravitas as say, a rain of fire.

Not too slow, but rather defenceless against melee and a smaller AoE.

I think that if they're gonna make the Lurker a siege weapon(according the SCWiki thats what I see), rather than an infantry cutter like it was in SC1, they should get rid of the splash and make it more like a mobile sunken colony instead (which would differentiate itself from the spine crawler with its range and mobility). If you still want to call it the Lurker that's up to you.

I will admit, I'm not so keen on the gta mutation idea anymore.

Actually, Infestors are quite capable of causing rampant death, as they demonstrated in one of the Battle Reports when they NIed a couple of Colossi.

Though I find your argument aceptable, you can't deny the fact that it spwns infested terrans out of nowhere.

Yes, but it's still rampant death by proxy. The Infestor isn't doing it; the Colossi are.

As far as overall gameplay effect of course, this is actually far worse than out-right killing units like with Psi Storm. But it isn't something as simple and obvious as direct damage.

When you fear a High Templar, it's because you know that, with a mere 75 energy, he can make a section of your army disappear. When you fear an Infestor, it's because you fear how he will use other units to cause your army to disappear. Maybe he'll take control of some of your units, maybe he'll make your units immobile so that they die quick and easy to Banelings. Or maybe he'll just create some units to kill for him.

True, but it still gives that oh-crud feel, especially if those units he's just Funged happen to be your Hellions, or He's just NIed a Thor and then uses it to eliminate half your Banshees and Vikings.

Except all SC2 Ground based siege units do splash (Siege Tank, Colossus, Lurker... even Thor air)
