Thread: SC units at scale (warning: BIG image)

I'm pretty sure hydralisks are only 2.4 meters tall. Unless they're a lot bigger in StarCraft II.
Hydralisks were stated, in the original StarCraft, to be five meters from head to tail. Kerrigan's hydralisks, however, seem to be a bit larger than that, as one towers over Zeratul, whom I'm assuming to be the standard three meter height of a Protoss. Granted, Zeratul is stooped over slightly.

With regard to Ultralisks, they're consistently portrayed as being extremely large in the manga. The horn on the head alone is three meters tall.

Its official, that guy was being payed by blizzard to draw concept art for them before he was formally hired and inducted into their studios at blizz HQ.

its pretty self evident considering how much his concept art resembles the "new" model of the new hydras.

Do we know for sure the Battlecruiser is 1.2 kilometers in length? Source?

I took it from this page, about 3/4 down:
    http://starcraft.wikia.com/wiki/Talk:Battlecruiser
there's no official source, but it seems about right.

Not official. All those artworks of the Zerg were drawn as fanart prior to him getting hired. His source for its size was aparently from the manual stating it is 20 meters long.

Scientists measure a second as the duration of 9,192,631,770 periods
of the radiation corresponding to the transition between the two hyperfine
levels of the ground state of the caesium 133 atom.
Or the duration of 9,192,631,770 matches where David Kim crushes you head to head in StarCraft 2

I think it's just a bit on the large side. But maybe. Remember the cinematic in brood war with the Wraiths moving in to land in the hangar bays in the forward hammerhead section of the ship. I'd say those are about the same size of a Viking, which should be a bit bigger in your comparison chart.

I would love to do my own iteration of various other units, but my computer died a while ago so I can't. =[

Judging by some other in-game shots and official art, I'd say that they Viking in the cinematic shot is slouching from being powered-down. It's like I'm looking down onto the seat. I'd say that, when powered-up with all of it's moving parts active, it should gain about a sixth of its slouching height. And of course we have the official art to go by, from the concept and from the Frontline comics. I'll look at that in a minute to check.

In the mean time, there's always that official Starcraft: Ghost trailer that shows some TvZ action, including an Ultra.

That's an old Ultralisk though, for all we know the SC2 Ultralisk could have evolved to become twice as big.

The 20 meters long tidbit is from Alternity: StarCraft Edition (ugh).

Just go with the Ultralisk size in Frontline: Why we Fight, that's the best example. The original Ultralisk has to be alot smaller. I'd say the SC Ghost trailer would have been accurate for the SC1 ultralisk.
