    Default Idea: Scatter button

    Here's an idea I had: Give the units a scatter ability, more specifically, infantry units. This could help against units with AOE damage.

    The "X" button in C&C games is used to scatter a group of selected units, to prevent AOE fire from destroying them. This could be useful against units like Siege Tanks, and timing the scatter right while also giving attack and/or move commands could distinguish better players from weaker players. I think it would have micro potential. IE: Siege Tank fires, scatter units, order them to fire while the Siege Tank is reloading, then scatter again when the tank fires. This could also allow for better Siege Tank micro-ing, rather than just deploying the unit into Siege Mode and ordering it to fire on a unit or letting it do the job by itself. This would also put less emphasis in late games on Siege Tanks for terrans, and perhaps could help units like Marines and Zerglings useful, alongside unit mixes, like Marines & Siege Tanks...

    In that case i also want a stack button , to help me stack my mutas and other air units , so it's fair

    the idea isn't bad lol.
    however since "unit stacking" is limited in SC2, it would be more useful to add a "formation" button to revert the effects of the "scatter" button.

    Or you could manually scatter the units through sheer APM :P.

    Not all of us can do it, but I'm pretty sure that Blizz consciously isn't including such a function because they want pro-level micro to really tell.

    I suggested this back on the Blizzforums days.

    It isn't crazy for a commander to order his units to scatter or get in tight formation.

    Maybe if the key just separates the units, instead of ordering them to keep their distance the whole time, it would need to be used more often, thus, having lesser impact on micro.

    The problem, is that it can potentially make splash a lot less usefull.

    I totally disapprove of this idea. If you want to scatter your units, do it manually. You shouldn't butcher the entire idea of micro.

    I agree with Dauntless.

    Anyway, where are they going to scatter? The directions would be completely random and uncontrollabe.

    Do it manually or die.

    This removes micro, therefore, I do not approve. I would rather scatter the units myself.

    First the Macro went, now the Micro...

    I don't like this idea. Manually scatted your units.

    Or we could just put a mechanic in the game that automatically runs your units out of storm. Since you were going to do it anyway, why not take the repetitiveness out of it. We could also take the repetitiveness out of late-game Macro and add a button to production facilities that will queue whatever unit you want right after the last finishes, since you were going to do that anyway. Let's take all the repetitiveness out of the game.
