Well, of course it can't kill everyone as The_Blade stated, but it only needs to kill one person. That person could be Selendis or Artanis, and that's all it needs to kill.

And with Zerg being hive-minded, it doesn't matter if it gets exposed afterward. Zerg are the perfect suicide bombers.

The main idea behind assassinating a Khalai Protoss with a Changeling Dark Templar would be to turn the Protoss factions against each other. All the changeling would have to do would be to take the form of a Dark Templar, and be seen killing the other Protoss.

If the changeling managed to kill the Khalai Protoss, escaping would be as easy as changing form from a Dark Templar into a Khalai Protoss while behind a corner, and wandering away during the commotion. The Dark Templar would be assumed to have cloaked itself, and the changeling would be able to escape.

(Also - it makes sense that the changelings would seemingly be able to replicate armor & clothing in order to disguise themselves properly - whether or not it did this in the story "Changeling" isn't really too important, but it is still curious).
