That could even affect movement speed, spells, and attack, keeping the unit more interesting the whole game, save for Spawn Larva, that has really only one possible target. The main issue remains the tree macro mechanics themselves (SL, PC, MULEs), they lack complexity and choice. They are used always exactly the same, over the same place.
That would actually be fairly simple... give the Queens some upgrades that require a Lair, and some that require a Hive.... You can even make them fairly fast and cheap upgrades.

As for the remote mining MULE possibility... I wasn't suggesting that there be any "remote-miners" there would just be the MULE, a building that would directly collect minerals from the mineral deposit it was sitting next to (or on). The minerals would be stored in the MULE and when done Safely+remotely sent to a CC. (This would be interesting because you would need to at least Watch the MULE until it was done collecting, so that you could at least send back the partial harvest if it was threatened)

Yeah, with remote-miners i was referring to any system that is used to mine from a remote base, and costs resources. I'm not convinced that a remote mining operation that costs only energy is likely to be attacked by the enemy, as it's difficult to find, and the loss isn't too big. Now, if it does cost some minerals to build and/or the killed building/miner throws a big mineral chunk that can be seized by the enemy, that's what i call a good deal.

Thatīs not enough for the enemy to search for a remote mining operation in all possible locations, just to get it opened in another location 30 seconds later. Who would waste time searching for it, when it only prevents one MULE run.

Prolly someone who wanted to get ahead economically.

Maybe, or maybe someone wasting his time, instead of just going to attack an enemy expansion, which would be a lot more punishing.

Exactly it would be a trade off. Do I cripple his economy by protecting distant minerals or should I attack him full force? Like wise the player is wieghing whether to just mine inside his base or risk a MULE for a chance at say yellow minerals.
