Tell me how you can make the claim its not a xel'naga? Are you telling me that sculpture of a figure shows EXACTLY what the figure looks like?

Please tell me where the entire bottom half of the figure is, what its body even looks like, and in fact, how many arms and legs it has?

I thinks its completely ridiculous to claim that is absolutely not xel'naga unless you believe 100% that would show exactly what the figure looks like.

Blizzard said they have no concept art/designs for how a Xel'Naga looks.

They weren't talking about lower torsos. They were very obviously talking about the whole thing.

If they don't know what a Xel'Naga looks like, they can't be putting images of it into SC2, now, can they?

A: They're different because they don't have any art. we haven't really gone too far into defining Xel'Naga other than defining a few temples and things. We on purpose don't really want to showcase what exactly they look like because who knows what the future brings and we may decide we want to do something more with them. The Xel'Naga, artwise, they don't have lots of art. Now, Dark Templar and Protoss, their schemes are sort of the same i.e. curving and arcing armor, but dark templar are a little more archaic. Their metals are platinum, silver and blue hue where the Protoss are more warmful, bronze even some ivories and things like that.
Where in that does it say they don't know what a Xel'naga looks like? They said they dont want to define exactly what it looks like because obviously, they may want to change it in the future.

However, since the structure clearly doesnt define what the figure is, or what the figure looks like, it would still be considered "not showing exactly what it looks like".

Now, I happen to believe it looks more dark templar-ish than anything, however, I still disagree with the absolute statement that it is not a Xel'naga. I also think its pretty ridiculous if you think blizzard doesnt have some idea, as of today, of how they want to currently make a Xel'naga look like. I'm sure Sam Wise has done several pieces of artwork representing what he thinks the xel'naga look like at any point in time. I'm also sure that it has changed a great deal from one concept piece to the next.

Again, I'm not saying it is Xel'naga, but I don't think anywhere in that quote does it say this picture absolutely is not a representation of a Xel'naga, or for that matter, a particular Xel'naga. It's possible that Xel'naga take many forms, similar to zerg and protoss. This being that is represented in the sculpture could have 20 tiny legs, or no legs at all, could slither, possibly fly. There is nothing in that sculpture that really suggests what the figure looks like aside from at least 2 arms, at least 3 fingers, and a head.

The new image, that people've been wondering about in connection to the Xel'Naga.

Image that Zeratul sees in the carvings when he mentions the Xel'Naga (the unknown being between the Zerg & Protoss Carvings)

    Zeratul Deeper in the Temple

Zeratul at a distance (new image) of the same image from

Lined comparison (sorry about the crappy quality).

Note that we still have the strange Energy Beings from within the Temples, but these things appear to be far more humanoid, and that singe sphere in the center of the head makes me think that these things are likely not Protoss, nor are they created by the Protoss. While I'm not saying that they ARE Xel'Naga, it's not confirmed anywhere that I can see that these aren't a carved representation of them. (note that there are three of them in the distant image - one for each major column).

You know, Kerrigan could very possibly have been watching the whole thing the whole time since apparently she can see through the eyes of any Zerg she controls.

That's pretty damn disappointing to hear. I had hoped they already had the entire species concepted and worked into the game for a grand showing in WoL.

I doubt they'll make much of an appearance at all in WoL, that game is mostly about just the Terrans with Zeratul thrown in there.

It's the first part of the answer "They're different because they don't have any art."

They clarify this by saying that the only Xel'Naga art they have is temples & such. But they said nothing about having art for Xel'Naga beings, therefore they do not. In fact, they even explain why in the article & video I linked. Just watch the video; at this point I can all but 100% guarantee that you're not looking at a Xel'Naga in any of these pictures.

I also think its pretty ridiculous if you think blizzard doesnt have some idea, as of today, of how they want to currently make a Xel'naga look like.
It enhances their mystery. Sometimes less is more.

Then if it's taking the form of a Protoss it's a sculpture of a Protoss, not a Xel'Naga. We'll find out when we play. And again, it's not a representation of a Xel'Naga because the art team said they don't have art for them.

This being that is represented in the sculpture could have 20 tiny legs, or no legs at all, could slither, possibly fly.
But it looks exactly like a Protoss, and the dev team has confirmed that we have no Xel'Naga art.

When they do get around to designing the Xel'Naga, I hope that it will be far more distinctive from what we've already seen in SC: "humanoids with glowing eyes & no mouth". I hope Blizz has a little more creativity than that.

It's probably a khaydarin or argus amulet. Protoss wear crystals on their foreheads all the time:

Presumably, crystals are put there because the frontal lobe is where most of the psionic processing takes place, which crystals assist with. Considering how intertwined Protoss are with psionics, that "sphere" is a key spot of the Protoss anatomy.

Hopefully we'll still get to fight the hybrids.
