Question about archons and Ulrezaj

It's all explained in the Twilight book. Ulrezaj survived so long because he came upon hidden Dark Templar knowledge ( he was a sort of archivist of knowledge, before turning into the monster we've come to know ), and him returning to a nexus of energies on a certain planet every once in a while.

I wish they'd release more information about the Dark Templar Ulrezaj had incorporated into himself and the circumstances involved, but considering their quiescence within the Archon, that might be a moot point. I'm assuming his personality's continued dominance and sanity is owed to the information he derived as an archivist?

Of those Protoss he fed off of, might their essence persevere within Ulrezaj in one form or another, or was their individuality destroyed and energy alone siphoned off?

No to the last bit. If anything, the info he learned drove him insane.

They're still there. They seem to act as advisors or assistants. For instance, when he felt Ramsey/Zamara's emanations, the different unnamed personalities put their two cents in (eg one said it was from a preserver, another said the energy wasn't pure protoss, etc).

What I meant was, were the personalities of all the Taldarim he fed off of destroyed, not those seven Dark Templar he merged with. But that's still interesting; I don't remember them having any input at all. Then again, I speed-read the whole book in a night, so that's not surprising.

Re-read it again, lore nut!

The Tal'darim just get "eaten"; no part of their personality remains. (Well, the book didn't comment on that either way, but I think we can assume they're not being added to his seven personalities. He ate a hell of a lot more than seven Tal'darim.)

Yes. Of course, since he's always shedding energy like a star, he's losing a lot, so he has to keep eating them.
