First, the quote is referened by the front day news. It's the line that says " Goha.ru summarized a Q&A with Chris Sigaty, StarCraft II's lead producer, confirming that the beta has been pushed back to 2010." There was no statement if it was russian or american. He simply said "beta" and "2010".

Can anyone confirm this? I'm going to bed and I really don't wanna search around atm..

but it's not looking good: "Meanwhile, Chris Sigaty talked not only about the story that drives StarCraft II, but also about the many new Battle.net features that players will experience once the premium online gaming service is relaunched."

Awesome work Pure. There is allot of info in here. I wonder how old this build is. We recently heard that roaches lost burrow movement and hydra is tier 2 again.

How are the words "beta" and "2010" together in the same sentence in Russia *confirmation* that NA beta has been pushed back? I was wondering if he actually used the words "pushed back"?

    I'll give you a clue:

It starts with "C", and ends with "ataclysm: The companies cash cow which they hope to milk for as long as possible before releasing SC2 and possibly distracting potential subscribers."

    B.NET my ass.

before releasing SC2 and possibly distracting potential subscribers.
That makes no sense. Diablo 3 has a far greater likelihood of pulling customers from WoW than SC2.

    B.NET my ass.
The information provided by Blizzard in previous interviews is polishing Starcraft II. While we may view this as a "delay" or a "push back" it's ultimately just a timeline we are aware of now. It could be that it was 2010 beta all along when they realized it was a first half release... and we merely had no knowledge of that. It could also be likely that they wanted to shoot for a 2009 release of beta but did not want to limit themselves to a timeline, in common practice of Blizzard. They put priority in "quality of product" above "speed of production". While it may be frustrating, it also provides quality games that allows them to set the standard as a leader in the industry.

This is all in light of a comment that is NOT confirmed to be speaking about a Russian beta or a world wide beta. The only information there we can trust 100% is that it will be released "when it's ready". Blizzard will post a recap of the presentation and questions at a later time. One can hope that it will help provide a more stable understanding of what was said specifically.

And a final comment. There is no confirmation about the delay being related to WoW: Cataclysm. That is purely speculation. A speculation, by the way, I typically see from people who speak more from emotions than sources at the time of accusation.

EDIT: In relation to how SC2 will pull people AWAY from WoW, that would happen one way or another. It also has the means to pull people INTO WoW. Let's say you play SC2 with 4 friends, and constantly find them on WoW. You now KNOW that they're there. You might consider getting the game to play with those friends. The same thing happens in other platforms such as Steam and XboxLive. Many of those games are purchased because they wish to join their friends who play those games as well.

I will admit, the success of this will probably be less due to the fact that the alternate game in question involves a monthly fee, but could actually be counteracted by the popularity of it. The only way to judge this is examine it after the fact.

Well said. People need to calm down. If youve followed Blizzard games at all youd know from the 2007 initial announcement this was going to happen and most likely will happen a couple more times.
