    True, but not enough. WC3 seems to be somewhat ingrain there. it still doesn't feel right, it should feel like they improved StarCraft, not that they converted WC3 into SC2. there was an article long ago here in SC legacy adressing that issue!

    Now, I'm not saying what the tilte of this thread says, but I'm pointing out some concerns about SC2.

    The previous tileset is more or less the same as the wasteland one, with the exception of a few green doodads in certain places.

    The new tileset makes it look more like it's supposed to look in the first place.

    Seriously, consider it on it's own merits and stop looking at it through the clouded lens of nostalgia.
    I don't know if I'm too obsessed with the realism feeling SC1 had," looking through the lens of nostalgia" as you say. but I can say it still retains something from WarCraft that I don't like because it's not meant to be in Star Craft: the "magic" glow some things have.
    Now I'm not the only one complaining about it, just watch the videos I posted, units aren't as recognizable as they should be due to ingame lighting system making them glow!

    EDIT
    Now, I must recognize that from what the video shows up(2007 show) to now (BR4), they've improved it a lot! (lighting system is better I guess) I just hope they keep it up!

    Look kids, its gonna look like wc3 no matter what you do unless you take the command and conquer rout. Meaning everything looks like realistic giant boxes with legs

    Hmm, that comparison alone indicates SC2 maps are MUCH smaller than the same sized maps for SC1.

    They're not in terms of actual movement and ratios, they just look smaller because you now have reference points (trees, shrubs, detailed ground textures, etc)

    It looks ok. The WC3 picture looks cartoonish and "radioactive" next to SC2.

    It's me, or people can put stuff on high ground shootting at your main in the new version of Lost Temple?

    I'm just happy they didn't go trigger happy with trees and make every single goddam terrain blocker replaced by a tree.

    Thx, I was gonna do that.

    SC2 used to be more cartoony but now it's exactly how it should be. It's actually even darker now.

    Look at the old creep:


    then compare with the image above. Sc2 is darker...

    Something that looks really stupid and silly, and was mentioned in another thread (dont remember where) was, that units attack animations are kind of out of place. I mean, in the latest battle report, at some moment it looks like everybody is shoting something to everyone, but nobody dies, its like they are throwing rocks or something. The thors attacks, plus the marauders misiles, and the hellions attack, looked like the have the same effect as if u throw rocks at somebody, until u kill them.

    To put an analogy, Star wars games that use lightsabers. When u hit somebody, instead of watching some "realistic" effects, its looks like u are hitting enemies with a baseball bat or something like a that. It just looks really really stupid. Well that happens with SC2 right now. Put a Marauder to shoot anything, and u will look missile after missile after missile after missile, until the unit is dead. The same with zealot, slice and slice and slice, like u are hititng ur enemy with a blanket, until it dies.

    Maybe that happens in all RTS, but its not the same to whatch arrows, or rifles firing, than seing missiles and laser blades having the same effect.

    I looks stupid, it fills the screen with a lot of stuff and u dont know what the hell is going on. I agree with some of the initial points of this thread, game readability is bad bad bad.
