Well.. I think marking this thread as a rumor suggests he's trying to spread false information, when in actuality he is just making a reasonable deduction from a date in likely the very last beta contest.
Maybe its not going to be accurate, maybe it will end up accurate. It is a fact that the end date for the contest is set, and the contests they've previously done havent ended early, so why would this one?
Considering this is based on something written by blizzard, and a theory to what it means, I dont believe this should be marked as rumor like as if blazur linked to another release date on walmart or a speculation based on the economical situation.
Please stop the spread of Mass Effect!!!

Even without the comic contest info it shouldn't be hard to accurately guess that we won't be seeing a retail release in or before April. Unless things have changed regarding Browder's 4-6 month beta length estimate, our current lack of beta already makes the chances of an April release pretty slim.

Its actually for the actual release of the game read the main post carefully :P. He was stating that if the beta is going on like it should be earliest it will end is may/june which I still doubt. Even though Blizzard says "first half" of 2010 I will be surprised if they make it.

I'll keep the rumor tag on it. While you may view it with a negative connotation, rumor is merely defined as:
a statement or report current without known authority for its truth
This isn't saying that this thread is incorrect, it could very well be true. But ultimately, there is no authority of truth from the information provided to us at this time. In other words, speculation or rumor.

The word "eludes" (should be alludes — two totally different meanings) in and of itself puts forth the rumor-like nature of the subject. (Some other words that could've taken its place are implies and suggests.) Also, the concern here is NOT when the beta STARTS but rather when the beta ENDS — and in turn when the game is released.
For all we know, the beta could start tomorrow. However, the end of the contest period suggests something important. The last batch of people who get beta keys would need to be able to play the beta for at least a month if not two after they receive it. In the previous contests, the winners of a certain contest period were announced about two weeks after the end of that contest period. Also, those who won the contest would actually receive the beta key a week or so after the announcement of the winners.
By my hypothetical calculations, this means that the end of the beta itself will be anywhere from 2 to 3 months after the end of the contest. The end of the contest is 14:59 (2:59 PM) PDT, April 28, 2010. I believe that the beta will end somewhere between late June '10 and early August '10. After that they will need a few months to finalize the game and ship it for nationwide (US) or worldwide release (not sure which one it will be). This pushes the actual release of SC2 all the way into late 2010 — and that's barring any huge problems. It has the potential to be delayed into early 2011.
The only thing I see debunking this theory is if the beta keys are also good for the betas of the latter two expansions. There will have to be betas for the expansions if they plan to add new units and mechanics to the multiplayer. However, I feel like the likelihood of those keys being good for the other betas is very, very low.
Keep in mind: the above is nothing but educated speculation.
Also, SC2 release = 10/10/10

I don't even have to mention "OMFG BLIZZARD CREATED A TWITTER ACCOUNT THIS MEANS BETA" or "OMFG BLIZZARD CHANGED A LETTER ON THEIR MAIN WEBSITE THIZ MEANS BETA FO SURE GUYS TOMORRROOWOWOWOWOWO@!"
