Thread: the Artifacts

Essentially, your choices are "anti-hero" and "hero". "villian" isn't one of them.
I was exaggerating the moral decisions. Call them the Tosh and Horner paths, if you will.

Look at how they handled WoW.
No. And I never played it.

I wonder how far they'll take your decisions, then. Will following Tosh's examples lead Raynor to darker inclinations? Speakin curtly to his inferiors and allies? Or essentially remain the same? I'm curious about the smaller nuances and characterization.
    Aaand sold.

Be it through hallowed grounds or lands of sorrow
The Forger's wake is bereft and fallow

    Is the residuum worth the cost of destruction and maiming;
Or is the shaping a culling and exercise in taming?

The road's goal is the Origin of Being
But be wary through what thickets it winds.

Regardless of what you think of WoW, the way blizzard handled character progression in terms of lore decisions was pretty good. Essentially, your given many different sides to side with that don't end up deviating from the common goal of the game. At the same time, the choice you makes isn't meaningless, it does effect your gameplay experience. Other MMO's either go half-assed or hardcore. Either your choices end up not effecting the way you play the game at all beyond the character selection screen, or they end up potentially screwing up your entire playing experience (in EQ, it was possible to screw up a quest, lose all your faction rep inside their town, get instantly killed by OP'd guards, and then be unable to retrieve your corpse because it was being camped...by NPC guards.

In regards to your question, I remember a quote where metzen basically says "At first we had a lot of dialogue options, but we ended up removing them because you were not able to make any real choices within them, so it was just distracting from a cohesive experience"

wait. about the 2 expansion, are both new stories after the incidents of the first expansion? Or do they happen in the same time and you just play differently (other race)?

They're chronological, meaning they continue after the previous story.

Right, the whole story or even a significant part of it is devoted around the artifacts....doubt it. That's a really broad conclusion to make.

I'm not sure what point you're addressing. Care to clarify?
Arcturus Mengsk did nothing wrong. Tarsonis is just a conspiracy theory.

    Im guessing that:

    1) Each story will end in the same way the protoss ending was for SC Vanilla. It will end in some epic battle, but danger still on the horizon. Its a subtle cliffhanger if you will.

    2) The artifacts are either the key to awakening the hybrids, or making the universe explode.

I think the first is more likely because Duran talks about the Hybrids being the "completion of a cycle", and the artifacts are apparently the key. The question is, are Zeratul and Duran both talking about the same thing?
