Q: So manual labor instead of automation?
A: Exactly. There is a nice story about this. Back then, I was working on addons to Mechwarrior 2. That's how I know that there was still automatic targetting in an early version: You only had to decide, which weapons to fire in what order, the Computer would guide them to the target. The only thing you had to watch out for was not to overheat. That might even have been interesting, but just for few players. The majority wanted action, and they got it in the end. The same applies to Starcraft: We want the players to go back to their base in order to produce reinforcements. We want them to really take care instead of relying on an automatic process.

I would personally like to go back every once in a while to produce units. I just hate making workers and sending them off to mine so thank god for rally-mine.

Translation: Here's the same debunked quote I've posted 5 times already. Hopefully this time it will magically become relevant and full of truthiness.

Demos theory is that Blizzard really doesn't want the players to go back to their base in order to produce reinforcements. And that I had secretly tricked them into saying that with my mind ray.

Well you don't have to go back to your base directly. Hotkey the bases and rally where you want.

Translation: I'm a liar. DS never actually said any of this, but I'm going to say he did because I can't come up with a valid argument on my own to anything he's put forward.

How you love your ambiguous polls, Archer. I asked in the Macro thread but I guess you didn't feel as though a response was warranted... so I'm asking again here.

What does "the player [having] to come back to [their] base to produce reinforcements" mean?

Are we abolishing control groups? You have to be looking at a Barracks if you want to tell it to train a Marine?

Well if they do want us to go back to the base they've been hiding it pretty well with hotkeys and rally points.

That is a very good question. I should probaly ask Dustin to clarify. Im going to go out on a limb though and say it means that during the game they want the player to come back to the base to produce units.

The fact such a "silly" thread was made about something really so trivial makes my head hurt, are you just asking random questions for reactions now?
Sonic: [dressed as a cop] Let me speak to the driver.
Grounder: I'm not driving. He is!
    Scratch: No I'm not.
Sonic: Driving without a driver? Now you're really in for it.

Sonic: You know? I sure have fun.
