Thread: Community Poll

  1. #1

    Default Community Poll

Sorry about the baiting title; I couldn't really tell you it's about 'macro' and then get unbiased poll results, now, could I? Half of you probably wouldn't even open the thread.

What I'm interested in finding out in the poll is how many people have been following along with the Macro debate, and to what extent. Do people no longer post because the discussion moves too quickly, or because the thread size is too intimidating to get into at this point, or because they're just not interested? Have you guys made up your mind one way or the other?

This is not an argument thread. That's what the thread in question is for. This is just for people who haven't ventured there in a long time (if ever) to explain why... and in your posts to explain which side of the fence you fall on in the argument. No one will ask you why, or force you into a 10-page argument.

This is just to see where the community falls on this debate, how much help the Macro thread has been, and how we might be able to make the discussion more open to others.

So I will vote "I post regularly," and I will write down here, "I believe that all three macro mechanics should be replaced with ones that involve more decision-making."

lol wasted, I guess im back here to procrastinate D:.

I don't post because I don't think I'm knowledgeable enough to contribute something meaningful. I'm a D rank player, and I don't watch any vods really. Honestly, not to sound like a conceited bitch, but I don't think most of you are either. But to each to his own I guess :P.

I voted "I'd like to get into it but it moves too fast/too intimidating/etc."

There's way too much rage and flaming in that thread, there's way too much intransigence (there's no point of posting, in other words), I haven't followed it in weeks (basically, I just read the last page every few days), there's too many unfounded assumptions, too many people who think they can read Blizzard's minds, too many explanations for why some of those features weren't included in StarCraft I, too many people who are absolutely 100% convinced they are right, too many people who don't see how beta can fix some of the problems, too many playstyles, too many "definitions of fun", too many "this game is not for you"/"the game MUST have this [negative] feature"/"no one should find this feature a bad thing", etc.

Yeah, it's a long negative wall of text, but I think the "debate" is as poisonous as the original MBS debate. Somehow, I don't see the BMWC on this topic on other forums though.

A macro poll (on more specific topics) might be nice, but I honestly think people should only be allowed to vote, not comment on it. Otherwise there will be flames!

I studied biology, behavior and psychology in school. I know it's very difficult to honestly analyze something using someone else's opinion. I just know what I want. I intend to stick to the lower leagues unless it turns out vast masses of the players are actually worse than me. As long as I don't have to spam some boring ability to play at that level then I don't really care. If you have to spam that ability to win higher level games then I don't care; the same progamers who wanted a game that revolved around screenshifting-enforced-by-terrible*-macro/UI won't be playing with me, and might even be happy.

    *Terrible to me.

Put some junk in the first few lines. I could tell it was about macro from the preview

I've contributed, said my peace, and consider the topic exhausted until further notice. No longer do I read it.

Nothing but trolls in that thread.

It's always revolving around the same stuff and gets boring after a while but I did post a bit in it so I voted regularly even though that's not really true.

ive always been interested but every time i check it out, the number of pages makes me feel overwhelmed. I don't want to be one of those people who follows the end of the thread and posts, but ends up contradicted or repetitive because of what I haven't read

We only go in circles. Feel free to jump in any time

It's funny, I actually missed out on the thousand pages after the first 10 or so, and then jumped in once it got to a certain point. I will admit that we are going in circles, but with each circle we say things in a different way in order to try and communicate our ideas to eachother.
