Thread: THOR and MARAUDER FIX

Last time I checked, the Thor is using particle accelarators, though not visually shown as lasers, they are energy based weapons. And Terrans do have laser weapons that Troops can use. The Pulse pistol from Liberty's Crusade is proof of that.

It really depends on how the energy weapon or ballistic weapon is used to determine which is more affective of course.

And on a vaguely related note, in Command & Conquer IV, attack colors actually change depending on whether a unit is a good or bad counter for the unit it's attacking. (Nod units turn pink when they're countering properly. Pink!)

What? From what I have heard, Command & Conquer IV is going to suck!

They have even removed base building for Christ's sake!

Sweet no macro! I bet that will make the game allot more fun.

Bah. The MechCommander games neither had nor needed base building, and they were just fine. They didn't even have unit production; they were as close to pure micro as you can get.

It's all a question of what you're trying to do.

The old RTS "Z" was a really low macro game.

It had buildings, but no bases. You couldn't build buildings, but could capture them. And then have the enemy steal them right back. One of StarCraft: Ghost's multiplayer mini-games would have been similar, except I don't think nodes actually produced anything.

DoW2 is like Z, then. You capture and/or steal requisition and power points. The only thing you build are generators for more power.

The Lord of the Rings RTS has to be the lowest of the low - You capture a command point (similar to CoH) and a base literally springs out of the ground. Then you can have workers chop down lumber...or not......then there are some 'super abilities' that you continually have to remember to activate as soon as their cooldown is up.

Also, outside of the heroes, quite possibly the most microless game as well; you literally just build wave after wave of soldiers and siege, and then just send them at the enemy base.

Beautiful game if you look at the screenshots, but nothing there - the game may as well play itself.

No, MechCommander had no macro. None. No buildings, no unit production, no resource nodes.

You picked your 'Mechs and your pilots beforehand, and that's what you used. The most you got was the ability to spend a limited quantity of money to repair units on the field and to salvage crippled enemy 'Mechs. Everything else happened between missions.

    Pure tactics.

Wow, for some reason, this whole time I read MechCommander as "MehCommander" as if it was an insult to the game.
