Thread: Remastered Campaign Art

Some misses, but there are some that I really like.
What?! Don't tell me the JJ Abrams-style lens flare isn't doing it for you! /s

I just want to know what the fuck have they done to the Hydralisks?
    Aaand sold.

Be it through hallowed grounds or lands of sorrow
The Forger's wake is bereft and fallow

    Is the residuum worth the cost of destruction and maiming;
Or is the shaping a culling and exercise in taming?

The road's goal is the Origin of Being
But be wary through what thickets it winds.

What? But, they're supposed to be heading TO Aiur! D:

EDIT I also just realized they changed the composition of Dark Origin to place more emphasis on Zeratul instead of the encampment in the distance. The original was subtle and beautifully rendered. The new one? Not so much. It's nothing but... stuff.

Yea, flipping the Zerg around was kind of heartbreaking. Proves how far they will go to impose themes or emotions over preexisting content.

It seems they've directly responded to feedback in a couple frames. The Hydralisks need to change a lot for sure, but take a look at their slug-bodies. They look significantly skinnier and less beefy. We just need to get the message through to give the head/shoulders the same treatment.

Also, the Protoss Victory Screen lost a lot of the crystals and changed the lighting a bit if you compare it to the original.

I've said this before, but the reason the Zerg look 'fisher price' style is because now they're using the same models as they used to render the sprites for these shots, instead of making separate cinematic models. That's why the overlords look goofy. That's how (proportion-wise) those units really looked; the Hydralisk sprite does have a super skinny tail and way smaller, less impressive upper arms that attach to the neck as opposed to the cinematic version's impressive torso. You can disagree with that choice, but they've chosen to be consistent, fair enough.

That said, I think the Terran defeat screen was a big mistake. The original was one of the coolest pictures of a marine in the whole game. Now we get to look at a dead guy's boots. :/

I actually the the Protoss defeat one is decent, at least it's a cool picture. Protoss victory pose, still bad.

I don't mind most of the Zerg models since they make new strains all the time for different purposes (it would be best if we saw different hydralisk variants in one shot). The Aiur shot definitely looks weird unless it's meant to indicate they conquered Aiur and are using it as a staging point for attacks on other worlds.

Oh hey, they DID change the Protoss briefing room! Sweet!

Now if only they could fix the terran defeat screen.

BUT, that Char Aleph, Zerg Briefing Room and hunt for Tassadar one. Yummy.
