Going to have to get used to the HD sprites, but, if this has decent match making, I'll be super excited, some day. Not entirely burnt out on SC2 yet though.
Kind of also excited about playing old SCUMs again. Will they be supported? There was more innovation in the average game listing in SCBW than I've seen in SC2 since its release. The top games during the early days of the WoL beta ARE STILL the top played games in SC2. And they're the most mind numbing of tedium too, WTF?!

Rest In Peace, Old Friend.
Fuck, now i'm going to have to give blizzard my money :/
also BRB, gotta clean up my shit from my pants...
Take my money blizzard, all of it! This is just too beautiful :'(
I'm 99% sure they will. The core engine is probably the same so I'd assume it expects the map data to be fed the same way. That's the best part of all of this for meKind of also excited about playing old SCUMs again. Will they be supported?
Only part I'm kind of worried about is:
It's a very minor concern but I just hope the artists will adopt an adequate art style.Stylized Briefings
Race-themed comic book interludes tell the original story with a fresh coat of paint.
Based on this, I'm saying no. But, it would be a good barometer to see how much Blizzard is learning from their actions. If they do it passably, I'll plan on maybe giving them a second change in the 2030's.
Rest In Peace, Old Friend.
My first reaction when I saw this was also "no". Looking back at:
I'd say it ain't horrible but the problem is really the glossiness of the skin and the weird texture patterns they decided to put on. BUT, this is 172394170293478 times better than fucking:
What I find interesting is that their main concept artist didn't change between sc1 and sc2. See:
Sc2 style is closer to the original cartoony concept arts of Samwise. I'm not sure why the game ended being more photo-realistic but I'm sure glad it did. Probably has to with the "wacraft in space" backlash they suffered post E3 back in the days.
YES! I thought the exact same thing. The revamped image looks as if the Protoss has saggy skin, but Protoss in SC1 have scales and ridges along their face. They're supposed to look like your knuckles would sink back into your first if you punched one. Also, the Terran isn't supposed to be a middle aged man, he seems like a relatively young guy in the picture.
My biggest fear is that the unit portraits won't convey the same emotion they did in SC1. I really hope Aldaris/Tassadar/Fenix all have scaly skin. Also, I hope they keep the old sound effects.
But I'm extremely happy that more people will actually play SC1 and we can make our arguments heard to a wider audience.
One of the "Highlighted Features" is "revised dialogue and audio".
Be very afraid...![]()

So Tricia Helfer as Kerrigan instead of Glynnis Talken. Ugh. No thanks. One of the "Highlighted Features" is "revised dialogue and audio".
Aaand sold.
Be it through hallowed grounds or lands of sorrow
The Forger's wake is bereft and fallow
Is the residuum worth the cost of destruction and maiming;
Or is the shaping a culling and exercise in taming?
The road's goal is the Origin of Being
But be wary through what thickets it winds.
Ugh... I naively read that as "we're gonna do some post-processing on the audio". New recordings is a big no from me :s
