In her mind, the Protoss were the bigger threat because they were coming to blow up the planet, while the zerg could be dealt with on a more local level.

Bah, I don't want to argue about this anymore, I want to talk about story potential. The reason why this whole debate chain started was because someone took an example I listed out of context. All I was really trying to say was that Gna's idea (or whoever's it was originally) that Kerrigan is Mengsk's ideal follower and represents Mengsk's long term plans feels completely out of nowhere, and sounds more like an Overmind motivation than a Mengsk one. It also sounds like a retcon.

If you don't get what I'm saying, check the notes. I don't feel like bothering right now.

Anyway, so what race order are we going to have? I'm for Zerg-Toss-Terran, but that may not be possible, depending on where the story might go.

How? After all that time dealing with the zerg, you'd think Kerrigan by now would have understood how quickly they can overrun a planet.

They have the Psi-emitters and the (false) assumption that they can control the Zerg in some capacity/lure them away somewhere else later after the Confeds are destroyed. They don't have any means to do a similar thing to the Protoss.
Yes, that's right! That is indeed ME on the right.

I'm partial to that as well (I made a campaign based on that formula so i'm a bit biased)

Did you get the impression at that time that Kerrigan too shared Mengsk's view that the zerg could be that easily tamed?

Refer to Grad's post above (#301).

I already saw that, but you'd think after dealing with the zerg for this while, they'd learn not to underestimate them like the Confederacy did.

Not exactly. To the SoK, it's more that the Confeds are underestimating the tenacity and lengths the SoK will go to in order to destroy them. It's also the matter of Mengsk himself incorrectly overestimating the Confeds capabilities since he initially does think the Confeds are underestimating the Zerg and uses that to win Duke over in Norad II, but then develops the new conclusion that the Zerg are nothing more than a weapon created and controlled by the Confeds with the reveal that the plans found in Antiga were for Psi emitters in the next mission, The Trump Card). It's something he intends to turn and use against the Confeds. As such, Kerrigan thinks the Zerg can be handled later/that the Protoss are comparatively more dangerous in that moment.

That the SoK are actually and already underestimating the Zerg from the moment they discovered the Psi-emitters (because they are not being controlled by them but are guided by something more alien than they realise) does not mean they should have known they were underestimating the Zerg. What you're advocating here is that the SoK characters should know that they're in a fictional story and have priveleged information of the Zerg that only select in-universe characters would know or an out-of-universe observer may have.

Mengsk was never shown to be like this. Instead the opposite. Like I said, he has been shown to take into his fold anyone he can use, and tend to keep them. He keeps duke even if Raynor and him agreed he was not to be trusted.

I assume this idea about mengsk comes from sc2. Maybe he does turn to be like this, but at that time he wasn't shown as having that character.

    Watch this https://youtu.be/-j3X3EuCf98?t=28m0s 28 minutes to 33:33.

    1. It seems the protoss and Zerg had a huge battle over there. Mengsk didn't want to take any part in that, or maybe he doesn't want to be implicated. Maybe he wants to believe the Confederate were helpless and weak, and that he can do better. So he left with his entire fleet before they get swallowed up in the chaos.

    2. Several dozen protoss warships vs billions of Zerg. Imagine tarsonis as a wild battleground, and only a strike force can penetrate.

I'd imagine there was only a small window for Kerrigan to do her thing, and it was spent.

I'm not saying Mengsk wouldn't do this kind of thing, and abandon soldiers when he has to, or pulling them out would get in his way. But what I have a problem with is the idea that he intended to kill her by sending her down there.
