So what's your opinion of Death Parade? I heard people saying that it was on the same level as Death Note (one of my favourite animes). Is that true or just an exxageration because I have heard people overrate anime in the past and say they're as good as Death Note.

    ROFL.

Death Parade is really great, but comparing it to Death Note is apples to oranges. They're completely different genres.

So no psychological battle? No cat and mouse game?

Why aren't more psychological battles/cat and mouse games used in anime. I mean they worked great in Death Note.

    1. To clarify: Death Parade is about death arbiters who use games to decide if human souls go to the void or get resurrected. Whoever told you it was like Death Note is a lying moron.

    2. "Cat and mouse" is, I think, a difficult genre to write. For it to be a success it needs to be intelligent enough that the average reader/watcher won't figure out whats going on ahead of the protagonist. Death Note succeeds because it takes the approach of viewing the situation from the side of the villain.

Just wondering, since you're an anime fan, what do you think of Sword Art Online?

People kept saying it was the greatest anime ever but after I saw it.... well I felt like punching my computer screen....

SAO is highly overrated. Overall, I'd say its mediocre at best, but there are a few redeeming qualities. It brings up good discussions about future technologies.

Spoilers - Opinion on SAO and SAO 2:
    Hidden Content:

    SAO

Aincrad before Asuna romance: Good. Death MMO plot explained, solid world building. Little bit of harem crap, but compensates with strong stories of Kirito's first guild and Laughing Coffin introduction.

Aincrad after Asuna romance: Acceptable. Asuna is badass, wraps up Aincrad storyline.

Alfhiem: FUCK NO. Badass Asuna becomes helpless attempted rape victim. Awkward incest plotline. Only redeeming part is cool aerial battle between Kirito and Eugene.

Swimming Recap OVA: Pointless fan service.

Whale OVA: Decent. Solid standalone story about MMO raid.

    SAO 2

Gun Gale Online: Good. Return of Laughing Coffin, strong female protagonist, solid character development.

Alfheim Excalibur: Decent. Solid standalone story about MMO raid.

Aincrad Sleeping Knights: Good. Emotional story about terminally ill gamers and exploration of merging virtual world with reality.
