But there's probably that pull between individualism and the collectivist mindset of Japan, even today, that you have to war with. So are these anime just using that personal conflict as a thematic spring-board? The personal war is being reflected by the larger societal war? I'm asking because I know only a little bit about Japanese culture and society, so you can probably give me a better understanding than I could possibly pull from these anime on my own.
