Well, they certainly seem united in wanting a Western release of PSO2, I'll give them that.
Ewwwww, the MMO gaming cretans. Do not speak of them around me, sir. We are not of kin. I only refer to the glorious classic RPG gamers. (LotR already getting to me.)

To put it in context, PSO2 fans whine about wanting a game released, the PS classic gamers MAKE THEIR OWN GAMES, by the dozens, with many, many hours of content. Not even Chrono Trigger or Final Fantasy VI has that kind of dedication, and I don't really understand why.

In all seriousness, the classic games ended with PS4. There is no legitimate connection between the classic games and anything else. The fan bases are completely separate. They even have different fan sites that they frequent.

Though to be fair, I've seen the "black sheep" label just as often applied to FF9 as well.
FF9 was a return to the classic formula. It's the exact opposite of black sheep. Anyone who told you it was a black sheep is a lowly 90's baby unfit to speak of such things. It did get passed over since it came so late in the cycle and everyone was excited about the PS2, but FF7, FF8 were the black sheeps up to that point since they were such a drastic departure. Final Fantasy was going on over a decade and then two games come out over two years and the new fans think that a return to the old is a "black sheep". Kids in those days.

Anyway, the fanfic angle is a moot point, since I group FF material under the one section on my homepage. FF10's mostly got me covered for that.
I guess that you're saying that you've given the appearance of more completeness on your homepage by having Final Fantasy X there, but I'm referring to the fact that having a FF7 fanfic (Especially with Cloud x Tifa x Aeris triangle) is like an instant billion views.

As for completing Phantasy Star, you have no idea. I highly, highly, highly, highly, highly, highly, highly, highly, highly, highly, highly, highly, highly doubt you will even complete Phantasy Star II, and if you do it will be years from now. It's either a challenge or the embodiment of tedium depending on your gaming preferences. It's also nightmarishly hard even for experienced JRPGers. Even Phantasy Star I, while not being all that hard in comparison, has some pretty complex first-person dungeons that you can get lost in for quite some time. Phantasy Star IV, however, is just right.

With the exception of Phantasy Star IV, I could recommend a hundred JRPGs better to start with than these. But you must play Phantasy Star IV. That's the closest thing to actually innovative a JRPG story has ever come.

Forgive me Lord, for I have sinned. But if I may thus entreat thee to inform this lowly mortal about the Phantasy Star Universe sub-series, in order to cover all bases of the limits of my mind. Are the gates of Heaven opened, or is the way to Hell left open?

In all honesty, pretty much any romance fic is going to generate views. I'm not that big a writer of romance, but I've certainly done my share of pairing oneshots and...yeah. The hit counter is high, to say the least.

The homepage thing is more categorization though, in that it's simply "Final Fantasy" rather than dividing the sections in accordance with game (e.g. I have separate sections for Warhammer and Warhammer 40,000), and by volume, the majority of entries in said section are for FFX. Oh, and since we're in the spirit of raising ire, FFX technically isn't the only Final Fantasy material I'm familiar with. I've also watched the Unlimited anime and The Spirits Within.

...we were talking about black sheep earlier weren't we?

Ok, enough of that middle-earth speak.

It's not a subseries. Phantasy Star Universe or anyrthing past IV is entirely unrelated in every possible, concievable way (except for some monster cameos). The only reason it has Phantasy Star in the name is the same reason that the Final Fantasy MMOs have the Final Fantasy name. Although, that's not quite right since Final Fantasy MMOs have more homage and influence from the SP. To put it simply, it's a naming gimmick, nothing else.

    The Spirits Within.
A movie so incredibly 'meh' that even a Final Fantasy addicted, video game CGI loving, easily impressed child thought it was 'meh'.

Advent Children, however, raped my childhood in a way that only a long time Star Wars fan can understand.

Also, just saw that you have a Final Fantasy X and Tetris crossover ... you crazy bastard. I knew you were insane ... but this ...

    That's almost as bad as:

Of course, I mean in this in the most respectful, not serious way.

    Hurrah, common ground!

But yeah, I agree. From a technical and visual standpoint it's very impressive, and I think it had some nice ideas behind it (e.g. the Phantoms as a whole). But IMO, the action was lacklustre, the characters lack depth, and a lot of it goes unexplained (why is that rover shielded at the end but none of the ships? Why wear armour if Phantoms go straight through them? Why do the personnel of the Zeus cannon not try to stop Hein? How and why are spirits only found in certain lifeforms? Why does the movie just peter out at the end? Why...)

So, yeah. Gets a stamp of "bad" from me. Kudos for trying, but not enough at the end of the day.

    Um...thanks?

Anyway, I've read about the novella in question. A lot of it's iffy, but I'm guessing a lot of it's lost in translation as well - probing the origins of the faith and Al Bhed has some promise for instance. I did listen to the audio drama that followed it though, and to be honest, I didn't find it too bad. Bit unnecessary, and I think the idea of people returning from the Farplane is interesting enough without having to bring Sin back, but...yeah. Honestly, after completing FFX, I don't remember saying "you know what this needs? A sequel!"

And yes, I know FFX-2 is a thing. Haven't played it yet though.

The part I was referring to was the parts of X-2.5 where the author stole from fan fiction and forgot to take it out so you get thinks like Tidus getting his head blown off by a blitzball and Yuna necrofucking Tidus. Yeah .... It's Japanese.

Also, from what I hear, there's been some pretty strong hints that there's going to be a X-3. I don't care though. X was decent, X-2 had some alright but gameplay but was stupid and pointless, and XIII was some bullshit. Plus I'm still pissed at Square for C&Ding Chrono Trigger: Crimson Echoes. Promised I wouldn't give them anymore money and I'm sticking to that. I promised that back when they were still making decent games and now its so easy
