"Kerrigan has always wanted a child and one with Jim but she can't have children since she is infested, what happens when opportunities that were once forgotten come to light as she find she can have a child. But can she protect her child from her enemies and will Jim accept the child and help Kerrigan or will he reject it."

    Wow, just wow...

I never bothered to believe this was possible, but it was still interesting to help the author on where this fic was going....

This seems wrong to me— do we ever see Confederate Protoss captives? The only 2 Confederate labs I can think of that we see are the Jacobs Installation and the Amerigo, both of which did have captive Zerg in them. But only Zerg— I thought that prior to Chau Sara, the Confederates had no knowledge of the Protoss whatsoever— and the first time humanity saw Protoss ground troops at all was on Tarsonis, when the Confederacy fell.

Yeah but the Confederacy knew of the Protoss BEFORE Tarsonis. Remember, Chau Sara and Mar Sara were among the planets the Protoss incinerated and everything, and the Confederacy knew that right away.

Still, don't the events of SC1's terran campaign take place over just a couple of months? They wanted to control the Zerg, and I could see them wanting to control the Protoss, but any thought of hybridizing them at that time seems completely bizarre and out of the blue. And a stupid thing to expend any resources on while Confederate fleets were still basically powerless against the technology of Protoss fleets. Any labs working with Protoss should have been trying to reverse engineer their shields or something.

Of course, Duran could have falsified some orders and gotten a team of Confederate scientists to start working on it anyway, so I guess that's not an issue. And I guess they could have recovered physical Protoss bodies from a disabled Scout or something from a space battle, prior to Tarsonis. I retract my objection.

Hard to say. From the new lore books like SC Ghost Nova, it would appear that from the time Duke joined the Sons of Korhal to the time Tarsonis happened, 6 months had passed.

The hybridizing concept wasn't part of the Confederacy's plans. It wasn't part of the Dominion's plans either until some time after BW. Mengsk knew he had to do it because this was the only way to beat the Zerg.

As for getting Confederate scientists to work on it anyway, wouldn't surprise me if they eventually became part of Shadow Corps.

    Lol.

While you may be correct in the sense that Blizzard intended SC1 to take only a couple of months, that's very unnatural. There's a rebellion against the Confederacy, Kerrigan's infested, and Aiur's nearly annihilated all in the space of two months? Not likely. I'd be surprised if Kerrigan's transformation into a Zerg took less than two months.

As for the Confederates, there is a downloadable mission that came out several years ago (I forgot the name) which depicts a bunch of space pirates coming across old Confederate scientific work. They were not only working on Zerg, but Protoss stuff as well. Presumably Mengsk attacking the Confederacy destroyed a lot of Duran's work, so I like to imagine that Duran hates Mengsk's guts.

Huh, that gives me an idea.

    - Mengsk, while investigating old Confederate stuff, comes across things that hint at Protoss-Zerg hybrids. This becomes (1) a source of information for Valerian, (2) something Mengsk can tell Raynor, and (3) something that may become important in Dominion-Protoss relations.

Yeah, I only meant that I had thought that the terran campaign alone took place over a couple months, not all the events on Char and everything after. But you're right that the longer timeframe makes more sense. And then, adding another book in, Queen of Blades implies that there were at least a couple months of time for Raynor to put together Raynor's Raiders before he started hearing Kerrigan's telepathic call from being infested and decided to head to Char. So, yeah, Nissa, her infestation definitely took place over a not insignificant amount of time as well.

I look forward to reading whatever y'all come up with!

This is why the whole Liberty's Crusade made things more confusing. That book made it seem like Raynor and Kerrigan had only known each other for like 2 weeks and then Tarsonis happened, and to me that just doesn't seem to work.

Christie Golden explained that the purpose of Flashpoint was to explain the time the two of them together and how they fell in love. Hence the 6 months period is more logical for that to work.

I didn't read Queen of Blades book, most readers said it fell WAY too flat.
