Not sure if it's been mentioned yet, but some fan-sites are saying they're being asked how many keys they'd like, indicating incoming beta launch for LotV.

I've fought for the Terran revolution, I've seen the promise of the Protoss, and now I'm ready to join the might of the Swarm...

Aaand sold.
Be it through hallowed grounds or lands of sorrow
The Forger's wake is bereft and fallow
Is the residuum worth the cost of destruction and maiming;
Or is the shaping a culling and exercise in taming?
The road's goal is the Origin of Being
But be wary through what thickets it winds.

Considering how long I've been here and the bullshit I've put up with, I think I'm entitled to a fucking key at this point. And this is coming from the socialist who loathes entitlement.

The SC1 story was almost definitely based on some romantic entanglement Metzen had at some point in his life. I think he actually alluded to that at one point in an interview.
I said that's not what a Mary Sue is. Batman almost never loses, Batman is not a Mary Sue. Johan from Monster never loses, Johan is not a Mary Sue. Since the whole idea of 'winning' and 'losing' is pretty much unique to modern action stories; it's just seen as a boring story if the protagonist is always victorious and doesn't struggle with adversity. That's the bottom line. That a character needs to actually struggle, that they struggle through adversity.So Kerrigan?
when did she lose in BW?
But that has absolutely nothing to do with what a Mary Sue is. A Mary Sue is a fan-fiction creation, a wish-fulfillment archetype where the writer takes an ESTABLISHED fiction, and adds a new shallow character to the narrative who hooks up with one of the more popular main characters. It has nothing to do with that character being unbeatable, or powerful, or beautiful, or whatever. You can have an incredibly powerful, gorgeous character and they can still be an incredibly multifaceted and deep character as well.
There's really no possibility for a Mary Sue to be in an actual published story. It doesn't really make sense.
It has nothing to do with how successful they are. That's something else entirely. Besides that, Mary Sue is an incredibly silly term to throw around. It really doesn't mean anything.
I guess you could argue that Kerrigan's shallow and that she's never suffered any adversity, but I wouldn't really agree with that; and that doesn't make her a 'Mary Sue'. The fact that she's stuck as an inhuman monstrosity who's alienated everyone who ever cared about her is a pretty negative story, and that's definitely what I took away from Queen of Blades. It's one of the main reasons I really don't like Heart. It's like... I don't think Kerrigan's a karma houdini, or whatever, if you want to use a TV Tropes term. But the fact that everyone seems to want her human and that she becomes human and the story seems to imply that she deserves forgiveness because Mengsk is such a nasty guy and he was so cruel to her. And it's just saccharine and obnoxious and it shows such a tiny little understanding of the actual story.
Anyway, I'm really glad they removed the Herc. Didn't like the look of that unit one bit.
