Maybe that is the prologue to the final set of missions. I mean, if we're trying to establish a beachead in the very last mission, that demands too much to be covered in a single mission.

It would be neat if they explored the concept of the Hybrids or Amon suffusing their essence into the psionic matrix and therefor enslaving the Khalai through their link, bringing them to heel. (That was my headcanon for Fenix's shorting blades; the Overmind was experimenting with messing up the psionic link, and happened to catch our favorite in the perfect trap.)

I don't think it's the last mission. It looks like the previous mission summaries that you see when you open the campaign from battle.net.

I don't see why Blizzard would just sneak in a prologue of the final LoTV mission into the data files for no reason...

Considering that the Heroes client was split from SC2 some time after BlizzCon 2011, this particular string was probably created during the development of HotS. Several files may be found related to SC2, but most were stripped.

I believe this fragment of information was just part of a larger directory of files dedicated to the evolution of SC2's plot. However, it might no longer be the thing due to the Butterfly Effect of HotS's story modifications.

Amon (Archimonde) is going to climb the carcass of the Overmind (Nordrassil the World Tree) so he can tap into the psionic matrix of Aiur. Raynor and Thrall (a flipped Jaina and Thrall) will help Artanis (Tyrande) buy Zeratul (Malfurion) time to concoct some plan that will awaken the full power of Aiur. In the end, Zeratul sends out a psychic beacon (blows a horn) that will awaken the might of the Xel'Naga, in the form of the "Tassermind" who draws power from the Aiur's vast psionic matrix (the vague wisp things that culiminate in Nordrassil releasing it's own energy by exploding taking Archimonde with it) to destroy not only Amon but all the Hybrids and feral Zerg on Aiur allowing the Protoss to resettle it again without any fear. Of course, as standard with all Protoss victories, it will come at a cost. Due to the damage done to the psionic matrix, the Protoss drop a level in their psionic powers (like the Night Elves losing their immortality).

All you took out of that scenario was that? You must be a very unfunny person (Jk).

Besides, you are most definitely wrong in the "no revisiting the same planet twice in a campaign" rule when it comes to the previous Sc games. We have both the previous Protoss campaigns The Fall and The Stand starting out early on Aiur and Shakuras, respectively, which then branches out a bit to other planets only to end back up again on Aiur and Shakuras for those respective campaigns. There's a possibility it could do so again.

I'd be more concerned if Aiur was the planet exploding, thus ruining the Protoss efforts, yet again.

I've been thinking that too. In the Invasion scene from the trailer, Aiur seems heavily cloud covered, grey-and-white. The planet that explodes also seems heavily overcast...

Still, the planet is just a black sihouette. Can't really tell. More than likely it cannot be Char, because there's not enough lava.

It's also possible this isn't a planet Amon will destroy AT ALL, maybe the Protoss would do it, if it was Zerus or something.
