I concur with Triceron....Zeratul is no stranger to sacrifice, witnessing Tassadar do the same kind of act to save their people and taking great pains himself to seek out the truth of the Xel'naga or kill Razagal for her sake and at the expense of his pride and sense of honor.

For the part of the planet explosion, I'm wondering if that's the Spear of Adun being sacrificed to kill Amon or something.

If it is, that's nothing new. Tassadar already did this in SC1 with the Gantrithor to kill the Overmind.

How do you guys think they're going to end it, and allow for a Starcraft 3?

amon is vanquished....kerrigan dies (but before she does has another heart to heart with raynor), and the zerg are left free to do their own thing of eating eachother for essence and evolve.

There is still the UED, and fueds between the terran factions and I'm sure that pesky dark archon is going to cause more mischief for the protoss

Too meh of an ending.

That being said, it's not like the HotS ending was that great either.

What SHOULD have happened, instead of the space scene as the swarm left Korhal, should have been like this:

We cut to a system beyond the Korpulu Sector. All we see are silouettes of planets. Suddenly, a psionic burst of energy engulfs each of them. Amon's voice is heard, "Arise, my legions...."

After that, millions of hybrids awaken and begin departing those planets. As the first of them reach the Korpulu Sector, the screen fades to black.

The caption "THE END BEGINS" is shown, and the credits roll.

We're likely going to be seeing that, so stop whining about heart of the swarm.

And I'm not so sure how amon is going to be* vanquished...and its an intriguing question how the protoss are going to live without the khala; im sure as hell no all of them are going to go "dark templar"

How do you guys think they're going to end it, and allow for a Starcraft 3?

These are my predictions:

0.) Zeratul dies by means of winged fairy.

1.) Kerrigan and Artanis merge into the first of a new generation of Xel'Naga. Leading a legion of other newborn Xel'Naga, they defeat Amon, sending the remaining Hybrids into disarray.

2.) Raynor is mortally wounded, forcing Kerrigan to save him by means of infestation. As the dust settles and Amon is defeated, Jim Raynor, the new King of Blades, takes the Swarm far, far away, watching over humanity as a distant guardian.

3.) Several Brood Mothers defy Raynor and abscond into the recesses of space with their own broods and agendas.

4.) "Rohana means family."

5.) Those Protoss corrupted by Amon are freed, but are left reeling in disarray. Vorazun steps in to lead the Daelaam. The Dark Templar now outnumber the Khalai and are the dominant faction among Protoss society. Vorazun declares there are no longer any tribes, there is only ONE Tribe -- the Tribe of Protoss.

Without Amon or Ulrezaj, the Tal'Darim are shattered; a scant few linger as holdouts, but their power is forever broken.

6.) For the first time in history, all Terran powers in the Koprulu Sector willingly unite under the leadership of Valerian Mengsk.

7.) The UED wants a piece of that sweet Koprulu ass.

When Amon gets defeated, an even bigger bad, ancient race that is older than the Xel'Naga make themselves known and says that Amon was just a pawn in their plans. And then, "here we go again...". If any of the main Sc characters die, they'll appear as force ghosts to help the next generation defeat this new threat. Oh, and the three races will probably find reasons to start fighting each other again now that there is no single threat against them all as well.

Starcraft 3 isn't going to happen. LotV might as well be Blizzard's farewell to the RTS genre. Where Starcraft goes from there is basically what's popular in the video game landscape. Hey look, they like Valve's IP's, why not make a Counter-Strike Starcraft game? The Terrorists can be the Dominion/Sons of Korhal while the Counter-Terrorists can be the Confederacy!
