Thread: Starcraft Personality Test

    Default Starcraft Personality Test

Okay, so something I used to do on Blizzforums is take some favorite/least favorite characters and try to figure out people's personalities based on them. I want to try that again. I'm a bit worried I'll have trouble with it, as I'm not as familiar with the SC2 characters as with the SC1, but I think I can figure it out. And you guys might think it's fun.

So what I need from y'all, should you choose to participate, are these things:

    Your favorite race
Your disliked race (if you don't hate any, just say none)
    Your three favorite characters
    Your three least favorite characters

For the characters, try to list three. However, if there's only two you really like or really dislike, don't stretch for number three. It's more important to get the ones you feel strongest about. Also, for Kerrigan, please specify if you mean the normal Kerrigan, infested, or SC2 version. Duran is also going to be split into Duran (SC1 version) or Narud (SC2 version). If you feel the need to specify different incarnations of your characters between the games, please do. I can pick your brain better if I know what you feel strongest about.

Zeratul: I have journeyed through the darkness between the most distant stars. I have beheld the births of negative-suns and borne witness to the entropy of entire realities...
Aldaris: Did not! That doesn't even make sense!
Zeratul: Shut up, I totally did!

    Okay, here we go!

Themes: Fantastic over regular, out of place, straightforwardness, writer

Romantic: Not much. You have trouble in this area, simply because you don't prioritize it. There are things you want to do in life, and you don't like to be bound in the sense of caring too much of another's opinion. All relationships have this obligation to some degree, and you know it. When you get older and more successful, you'll think about this some more.

Typing: Unlike fans of Raynor and Zeratul, you're not simply the "outcast" type. Outcasts bear a sort of romantic (in the old fashioned sense) charm in current culture. You however, are not a fan of current culture. All three of your choices are viewed as not fitting in, but in a way that pisses off modern people. Tassadar is your stereotypical hero, but we live in the age of the anti-hero. Aldaris is hated for not accepting others, and Abathur also prefers the practical for his race to making everyone feel happy. In essense, you care more about doing what is practically good rather than what makes everyone feel happy. You don't mind making enemies on the way, you certainly will. In Myers Briggs terms, I estimate that you are either an ESTJ or an ESTP. Either that, or you simply respect those personality types more than most.

Leadership: By the force of your will. You don't generally look back to others to answer questions for you. You want to get things done in a manner that is logical, and part of you fears that others are going to mess it up. Also unlike the "outcast" type, you don't like hiding and letting others make decisions for you. Whether you want to do something that will get you noticed, or simply work on a project, you want to get on with it and avoid working on teams. While your independence is admirable, your downside is that the input of others is necessary, and you need to work on your negotiation skills. Sometimes it pays to be able to communicate what you want.

Dislike: Followers. Well, not that you wouldn't mind having followers of your own, you just don't like putting up with their questions or petty issues. You prefer people that don't bring you their personal drama. Weak-willed people get on your nerves, as are people who follow you for their own sakes, depending on you too much what you think they should be able to do for themselves.

Personality issue: You hate the regular. You feel very out of place, in the sense that as much as you like modern technology, you mentally would fit in better during a different age in history. Your view in life is more noble and idealistic, and you intensely dislike the idea of giving up, or the idea of "oh, that's just the way things are". Just because something is one way doesn't mean it can't or shouldn't be changed. Also, just because something is disliked, that doesn't mean it should be changed. The value of any given thing, in your mind, is decided by its practical or moral value, not emotional evaluation.

Advice: Chill out a bit. Appreciate regular things a bit more. You need to find positive things about your life right now, so that you have the emotional fortitude and inner peace to change things or challenge perceptions in the future. Also, get a diary or blog to vent about your opinions. It helps.

Notes: Your like of Protoss indicates idealism, while dislike of Terrans implies a distaste for the regular or for your current circumstances. Tassadar, Aldaris, and Abathur are all people who act without asking questions, whereas Stetmann, Hanson, and Dehaka leave their fates in the hands of others, besides being poorly written and conceptualized.

I'm starting to think I should have limited this to SC1 characters. The dislikes, anyway. I want to know more about you guys than just the fact you hate poorly written characters. And boy is Aldaris gettin' the love. Before SC2 came out, people hated his guts. I guess people miss good writing.

Themes: Acceptance, making others grimace, easy amusement, power, oral eloquence, self-determination.

Romance: Mr. Goofy Man. You like to make people laugh, and while you're a bit annoying here or there, there are the types of women that like your personality. You're also more accepting of personality flaws in the women you date, and find them interesting. I sense a very loving person.

Typing: You're a very accepting person, and don't reject others simply because people dislike them or they've made mistakes. You thrive on authenticity, and like someone who is flawed over someone who lies about who they are. You yourself are very genuine, and while you might not always talk about yourself, you love hearing about others and appreciate where they fit most appropriately in life. You think there's a time and place for every person, and cooperate easily with others -- if you have more of a leadership role. Being a grunt in life is not something you want at all. You value people, but you value them more when they work for you. You have much you want to accomplish in life, and you want to accomplish it with as much agreement as possible. In Myers-Briggs terms, I guess that you are an INFP or ENFP (cut me some slack if I get that wrong, I'm still reading up on MB types.)

Leadership: You very much want to lead, but you have trouble dealing with dissenters or people who disagree with you. You can be argumentative with those who don't see your perspective, and it can have a negative affect on your desire to go on leading. However, when you do have those that agree with you or like the way that you value them, you are a trusted administrator who can assign tasks to the appropriate people. The key to remember is to maintain other people's trust.

Dislikes: Fakeness. Inauthenticity is anathema to you, in a way that no other flaw can get on your nerves. Since you feel there is a time and place for anyone, you feel being fake is an interference and deceptive. You hate tricks and gimmicks, and you especially hate whining and stupidity. I have a feeling you're the sort of person that says "get on with it, already" a lot.

Personality issues: You have trouble working in a group where you are ignored, underestimated, or given tasks that require no leadership. You also have a bit of a demented streak, where you like to provoke people for your own amusement. Given your understanding of others, you can frequently find the right buttons to push. You don't always push them, but you know where they are. You especially like being thought of as weird or different. You're a unique little snowflake, you.

Advice: Figure out where you want to lead people to. Have a goal and go for it. People will naturally follow you if you make them feel important, which you can do. Decide what you want, and then do it.

Notes: Your like of Zerg can indicate several different things, but here I feel it indicates being different and silly. Your lack of a hated race means you're either indifferent or accepting. Mengsk, the Overmind, and Aldaris are all leaders who can't handle disagreement, but, particularly the first two, handle differences of opinion or personality very well, provided the other person isn't outright rebelling. SC2 Mengsk, Amon, and SC2 Zeratul are all stupid. SC2 Mengsk does absurdly dense things, Amon is just some generic blob from nowhere, and SC2 Zeratul whines and is a huge wimp. None of the three have strong personalities.

I don't know what I expected, but this is actually pretty damn interesting. Are you a psych major?

I'm actually an INTP, but yeah, I do respect the ESTPs.
