See the video games section here. Granted, some of them may not be as well known, recent or exactly ending with that trope.

I don't really mind if they end up using it though. I'm not invested in Sc2's story as it is such that this will probably be one of the few things that will get a reaction other than indifference.

As for Mass Effect, I hear that the next one is not a necessarily a direct sequel nor does it involve Shepard, so I doubt the reason for creating the next one was to whitewash the previous entry. Sc2 to BW on the otherhand....
Yes, that's right! That is indeed ME on the right.

Yeah I know for a lot in the regular nintendo universe games, but those don't have that much of a serious tone. Now granted, the SC universe doesn't have THAT serious of a tone, but still.

Regardless, this is why they're planning an ME4.

As for the LotV ending, it's just up in the air, since we don't even have a teaser trailer for the game yet.

They're planning an ME4 because it was a very popular game.

Hence why until Blizzard gives us ANY info for LotV, I'm not even sure there'll actually be an SC3.

Mass Effect 3 was still a great game. Fuck the haters.

If SC3 is rebooted, it will be a nice start, but there must be a solid sci fi story replacing it with complex themes. Basically, as close to a continuation of the original StarCraft manual as possible, please.

Not likely. You recall how with the WC games, and by WC3 Blizzard just took the easy way out and said the lore in WC1 and 2 were no longer canon?

I can't remember much that WC1 probably kept canon, but WC2 was more 50/50 as to what they kept for future content. Some of what occurs in the ToD human campaign like the fall of Alterac and Sir Lothar dying made an impact in future titles. The ToD orc campaign is harder to figure out because it ends on a "what if" scenario, but I do know that they kept the turning point of the war where Gul'dan and Cho'Gall betrayed the Horde to search for the tomb of Sargeras.

As for BtdP, I think both those campaigns were established to be canon. The lone exception being the last text crawl where remnants of the Alliance expedition fled through a portal despite the fact that in WoW:BC, much of the expedition is still hanging out in Draenor/Outland.

As for Starcraft 3, I'm sure it will happen somewhere down the line, but I'm probably being too hopeful wishing for a return to the dark-and-gritty universe the original games were established as. The first thing I'd like to see is a return of actual continuation. I still can't get over how pointless WoL's Rebellion arc was made due to how HotS went down. It was the one WoL storyline I was actually looking forward to see continue onward when HotS came around.

That's a bridge we can cross later, Retlo.

According to Husky, once LotV is out, it'll be at least another 5 to 10 years before Blizzard starts thinking of SC3.

That being said however, the WoW universe is nearing the end of its tether. I don't think Blizzard do much more before the series becomes TOTAL wear and tear...

Yep, just wait till LotV completely ignores what happens in Wol and HotS, too. Of the three titles, the stuff that will be in LotV (the Xel'Naga stuff) is supposed to be what the whole of the Sc2 trilogy is ostensibly about (and what most people were hanging out for before WoL even came about) but you could hardly tell that based on the individual, disjointed and meandering stories of what we have so far. If one were to ask what the Sc2 trilogy is about as a whole given what we have so far, most would say something along the lines of something about human angst with all that Amon/Xel'Naga stuff being deemed a distant second reason (if even at all, really!). Seriously, does anyone even care about Amon and the Xel'Naga stuff anymore?
Yes, that's right! That is indeed ME on the right.

Course not, given that WoL and HotS were both a terran/Zerg conflict.

Zeratul was the only Protoss that actually DID anything. Without him, the WHOLE of the Protoss presence in both games would be considered an afterthought.
