You don't even need to consider physics, a mecha that runs at 120mph on two legs isn't likely to be very nice to pilot (jumping, vomiting, you get the idea).

God, that's retarded. Why the hell do they call them hoverbikes?

And in Heaven's Devils (the preview) they don't fly.

Oh, this is rich. Info from that Palladium site, on the creep colony: "The tentacle has a range of 6 miles (9.7 km)".

    Ohkay...

I see your ridiculous tentacle range and raise you a flying dragoon:

    - Atmospheric Propulsion: Maximum cruise speed is 93.2 mph (150 km/h), with a maximum ceiling of 2000’ (610 m). The Dragon can only fly for two minutes before the engines need to cool down for five minutes.
    - Sublight: The cyborg is not really designed for sublight travel, but it can accelerate at a rate of 5 miles per second (8 km/s).
    Aaand sold.

The jump 3 meters high should be doable... we have 4 legged robots that can jump almost half that hight with todays technology:
    Meet: Big Dog
SC is afer all 200 years in the future.
The jumps are more credible as they are a downward force pushing it up, ie. opposite direction - the kinetics for running are different.
A cheetah has 4 legs for better traction. Closest animal to the goliath would be the ostrich, which runs up to 45 mph.

But all the technical believabilityaside, anyone played Earthsiege 2 or Starsiege? Mechs in that game had a turbo add-on, but it looked horrificly stupid seeing a mech run at even only 150 kph, because it begins bobbing up and down as if it has serious spasms.
Which brings us to the points Norfindel mentioned...lol

8 km/s ??? Why they let junkies write specs?
At that speed, a crashing Dragoon could destroy an entire enemy base... probably more.

Since it's canon, I think it should appear in the campaign as an upgrade or something. Anti-infantry air scouts would be a nice niche, I think.
Arcturus Mengsk did nothing wrong. Tarsonis is just a conspiracy theory.

In Fear the Reaper, reapers temporarily become air units (and can shoot while "flying"). Very much unlike the game. They can also throw their charges from mid-air. Scary.

Inertial dampeners could take care of that. Terrans should have at least some form of it.
