Thread: How zerg virus works

What's all this Alien stuff got to do with the question of how Zerg viruses work?

Anyway, I'd assume Defilers would have had a role in transmitting most Zerg maladies given that they're, you know, described as mobile disease factories.
Yes, that's right! That is indeed ME on the right.

It was actually another shame that they got replaced by Infestors. Long before HotS came out, I HAD hoped to control Defilers (at least a little) in the campaign.

^ You're not the only one. Sorry to get all "zen" on you all but the Defilers pretty much epitomised one-half but equal part of the dynamic and philosophy of Zerg evolution since it represented the side of destruction and entropy, whilst the Queens were the opposing force of growth and nurture. Heh, you can probably see why I like the Zerg a little too much. :/

Tell me, back in SC1 multiplayer when defilers WERE still available, how often did you use them?

If you were playing 1v1 past a certain level, Defilers were a must. In team games or low skilled 1v1s, Defilers were less used, of course. So, I, personally, used them in accordance with the opposition.

Oh don't tell me you've never used them in multiplayer matches for the sake of messing around and all that.

The DNA Reflex pertains to the xenomorph's ability to infest an alien host and develop anatomical/analogous structures originating from that host:

Also it's interesting to note the section that pertains to the Face Hugger, Stage 1 of the xenomorph lifecycle:

The benefit of this type of cellular arrangement is that it is able to absorb any and all harmful electromagnetic energy, as opposed to allowing it to penetrate the creature's tissue, while permitting beneficial electromagnetic energy to pass through. The EM could be then used by the Alien to supplement and amplify its own bioelectric activity thereby allowing to survive without ingestion.
Now doesn't that sound like a certain long-psi nerved alien species we all know and love?
    Aaand sold.

What's that got to do with it? Thought you were talking about the lore and single player stuff. Otherwise, Dark Swarm was insanely overpowered (especially against Terran), so yeah, they'd get good use when you can.

I occasionally switch to the multiplayer at times. Somehow I don't believe the Defiler has been COMPLETELY replaced in the swarm though. There are some things the Infestor simply can't deal with, lorewise.
