How zerg virus works

We seen in Starcraft 1 and 2 that there exists Zerg virus which infects Terran.My question is how Virus spreads,how people get infected by virus?

Same as any other virus I'd imagine.

In SC1 it infested the topsoil of Chau Sara. So I guess at that point everyone was already infected and the Overmind could have initiated a worldwide plague at a command.

Well it'd probably have to be by contact, since the virus is contained within the creep.

I'm actually curious if there's special strains of the virus in how Kaloth managed to revive Stukov. Aside from him, there haven't been many examples of the virus being able to reanimate the dead like Resident Evil's T-virus.
