    Default Project: Hoarder

Well, first I would like to introduce the main idea of the project. I wish to test our ability to complete a single map within four months of development. This will help show how well we can craft larger projects. As a member of our community you may contribute in any way, but first you must sign in here with a valid Dropbox account. We will share all the files (which I will back every day) and will acknowledge changes here.

    File change Template:
    File Name:
    Information on Update:
    Date and time of Update:
Discussion on the project will also take place here.

    I'll introduce the project now.

    Goals and scope:

    -Single Player Campaign Map
    -Single Map
-Custom Models, Voice, Music and Animations
    -Expected game time: 20 minutes
    -Development: 4 months

    Plot:
Time: During the final days of the BW
    Place: Not yet established

Story Summary (red tags are names or locations to be named): A BAND of mercenaries was hired by the Kel Morian Combine to sabotage a "rouge" Dominion mining operation at LOCATION. This BAND specializes in siege range hijacking. They create a distraction with "silenced" Siege Tanks while a troop of multipurpose personnel undertake the real plan undercover in the chaos. PERSON is the captain of their 30 men ship. Smart and cunning he is known for detecting a double crossing before it ever happens. This earned the man the trust of his crew. He is the only one with knowledge on the ends of a transaction, and believes his crew should learn as much information as needed and no more.

This Dominion Station went rouge under the leadership of the crumbling UED. The OFFICER in charge has created a wealth through a black market of weapons before. Now he has a much wider market because he controls the planet side's mining operations. Kel Morian spies learned about this "independent" faction and found it weak enough for the grab.

The BAND moves in for the job and deploys their Siege Tank operation through Dropships. Siege Tanks are expendable and are placed by a team in strategic locations to create the most confusion possible. Under a remote command they open fire on a military base at the outskirts of the Dominion HQ. The assassination of officers and key personnel starts, while important mineral supply depots are salvaged for bounty.

Everything is going as planned, but there are hints of Zerg near the Dominion Base. Small holes with creep, mauled animals, and blood indicate a small brood has been living within the cave system of the planet. Suddenly the Brood emerges from the caves and KEY MEMBER #1, KEY MEMBER #2, and KEY MEMBER #3 are killed by Dominion Troops as they move back into the complex to defend it from the Zerg. No Zerg ground units are spotted and the BAND is trying to regroup. Soon they find the Brood is leaving the planet. As their plan is foiled, Domion Troops fire AA canons on the leaving Zerg, but they are also now aware of the BAND SHIP at orbit. PERSON curses and tries to react, but the Domion group annihilates the ship and kills everyone inside.

The mission is now a survival and the ground team is lost without leadership. KEY MEMBER #4 quickly steps into a leading position but is limited by his abilities. After the rest of the team (MEMBERS #5,#6,#7) is found and killed, 3 surviving mercenaries attempt to leave the base, including #4. They leave by killing a guard and taking 3 Vultures from the local hangar.

Ending Cinematic. #4, #8, and #9 reach the Dropship. #4 and #8 are quickly gunned down. #4 is then addressed by OFFICER who wants to know who they are and who hired them. #4 breaks down and tries to save his life. Unsatisfied by the amount of information, OFFICER shoots #4 in the leg and orders his men to take him "home". #4, being an assassin, kills himself with a concealed gun. A Dominion soldier exits the Dropship and states he found nothing. Officer says some final words and the game ends.

I can definitely volunteer for voice work.

Custom models and music, though? Got your work cut out for you, mate.

I don't mean to make the models from scratch. The new art tools are great for quick adaptations.

These are targets. Will we hit all of them? I don't know. The only one I actually want to set as an absolute is the four months of development.

Here's some development on characters and the planned location.

    Location: Roxara

    Character Development:

    Dominion Officer Robert Arheim

Robert Arheim has been a Dominion Officer for eight years. His post at Roxara was a "promotion" for securing a business trade with a superior who introduced him to the black market of weapons. He has now lived at the Roxara mining outpost for 3 years. He adapted his business strategy after the start of the Brood War. After he lost contact with his former advisor and partner, Arheim sought pirates and mercenary groups in order to continue trading. With full control of the mineral operations on the moon, Arheim also started to buy new weapons from other Terran factions under fake names. His investments brought wealth back to Roxara and the small settlement of Terrans enjoyed the illusion of escaping the Brood War. Eventually unwanted attention was attracted and Arheim had to confront foreign threats to the installations. Pirates wanted to loot mineral operations and soon he found out his "Dominion" mask was wearing off. With superior firepower he has been able to detect early threats and a squad of fighters is always ready to dispatch pirate ships from orbit. Among the mercenary groups Arheim is known as a ruthless, corrupt Dominin officer.

    Captain Johan Siebel

Captain Siebel is the son of a pirate formerly known as the "Siege-breaker". He was not the first mercenary who used Siege Tanks as part of his raids, but he was quite creative. Johan lost his father and earned the long scar on his face at a bar fight. His father's former partner and friend, Dag, wanted to sell the Siege Tank idea to other criminal groups. Drunk, both fought and threatened each other. The fight scaled quickly and other members of the band joined both sides. Eventually Johan's father was killed and his former friend now wanted to kill his son. Johan won the fight and jammed a long knife into Dag's face. He killed both men who sided with Dag and refrained from friendly behavior with his crew ever since. Respect was all that was needed from that moment on. Johan ran the BAND for 5 years after the death of his father. At the age of 29 he was approached by the Kel Morian officer who wanted to raid Roxara.

Map structure, characters and objectives have been planned. If anyone is willing to work on the Project send me a PM with a mail for Dropbox. I will not feature any more conceptual work here until an Alpha build of the map is seen. First month is almost through and the Project is still in time.

    Next steps:
    Terrain
Model modifications from Siege Tanks, Terran Civilian, and Marines.
