Sorry to say that the gameplay isn't that crash-hot in the first Homeworld. From memory, there's only a few missions that were "difficult" but yeah, it's mostly played at a leisurely pace. HW2 has more interesting gameplay.

Also I believe the difficulty is reactive (in the form of more enemies) and dependent on the number of ships you carry forward from the previous mission. This can be abused...

It helps that the basic premise in both are quite similar.
Yes, that's right! That is indeed ME on the right.

Hmmmm, interesting. I tend to mine everything out and "salvage" ('mind control' to my team) enemy units, am I hurting or helping the difficulty?

Either way, I hear and read that the game play in Desert of Kharak is very good, so it's worth it to me to get the "backstory" (sequel story, I know.) to enjoy it more.

Looks like you've find one of the workarounds for that reactive difficulty - salvaged units don't count. The other workaround is to scrap/sell all your ships at the end of each mission before launching into the next one.

So I just read Charlie Chaplin's autobiography.

So basically a man. That pesky dysfunctional Y-chromosome always keeping us progressing towards paradise.

I kid, I kid, Nissa. I couldn't resist. I'm sure he's a dick not at all deserving of the respect he gets, like most.

Hey now, I ain't no feminist. And actually, I don't think Chaplin is a sexist. He's just heavily arrogant and self-absorbed. He also made really weird comments about a woman basically being less of a "sweetheart" because she was business savvy. "In spite of her beauty..." in fact. He apparently thinks disdainfully about anyone who makes money through business ends.

Nah, man, I read lots of biographies. Chaplin is a lot scummier than most people I read about in biographies. He admits his flaws, but thinks they aren't flaws. It's pretty disturbing.

Because I like reading stuff. Horrible people are still interesting. I borrowed it from a friend because she wanted my reaction. I'm now working on a borrowed copy of Buster Keaton's autobiography, so we'll see how that goes.

Fair enough, haha. What's the most interesting autobiography you've read? I hear Trevor Noah's is making some waves. He's a typical media asshole (of Jon Stewart ilk, of course), but he seems like a good guy with an interesting story. I also wanted to read Bill Clinton's autiobio since I hear he goes into detail about his rare ability to go his entire life without much sleep, and since I think I'm close to the same thing, I always wanted to see what he had to say.
