Even if somebody disagrees with me and really really liked you, hell, I can't remember the last time you actually made some sort of contribution to a conversation on BF SC2. So, again, not that big a deal.
I'm going to take this chance to come out of the shadow I'm normally lurking in to give an enthusiastic two thumbs up to this statement

I completely agree with no building rotation in multiplayer games, where you need to instantly figure stuff out in order to play to your best.

However, I hope the option of building rotation will be present in singleplayer and especially in the editor.

Rotating buildings would as said before destroy readability. It makes no sense and has no purpose therefore why complicate?
Couldn't agree more. This is spot on!

Lot's of people bought Spore too, doesn't mean it's a good game. After a while most people got bored of the game.

Does RA3 have a huge competetive scene?

Might that be for other reasons other than building rotation? I don't see how building rotation could have any effect whatsoever on their competitive scene.

Building rotation would help because you want the units to come out a certain way as not to get stuck, this would allow you to build in a variety of different ways while never creating a situation where the units don't go to the outside of a group of buildings. In SC, you don't have that ability, you are forced to build in a certain way which doesn't get your units stuck, which takes up a lot more space.

lol, guys if you cant tell the difference between a barracks pointed north, or a barracks pointed west, and another building, I feel really bad for you.

OMG... I KNOW THE FIRST ONE IS A BARRACKS... WTF IS THE NEXT 3?

Yeah, not to mention most pro's wont even look at their buildings anymore, now that MBS is in the game. They will have every type hotkeyed to a number, and the rest will be used for their units.

Well, I'm all for realism and fun, but does it really help the game? I think it's more a distraction than a useful ability, and while distractions are fun (I mean, what else are unit funnies for?), they're also lethal in RTS games.

It's a nice idea, but I don't really think it would make the game better.

The one "it's been 10 years and games should look better" advancement I'd like to see in Starcraft isn't building turning, but unit production animation. We should see Siege Tanks roll out of factories, Zealots warp in to the platform on Gateways, Colossi being constructed, and not units just popping out of the building instantaneously.

Realism is not the point. The point is, I want to tell the building from where I want my units to come out, the very easiest way to do that, is to allow building rotation. Simply allow me to press a key which rotates the building so i can place it. Distraction? I simply don't see it... It's not like everyone has to use it, however, it does in my opinion give you better control and help prevent units getting stuck in between buildings.

... Right... Because that wont be 10 times more distracting than building rotation...

You do know that units come out in the nearest side of the building to your rally point right?

In what game? Also, how is that going to help me if the direction I want the units to go happens to make them come out of a side of the building that gets them stuck?

If they always come out of the front of the building, and I can rotate the building, and they will never get stuck regardless of where I put the rally point at.

Then you should make them come out in another direction. You have control of it; that's all you need.
