Thread: Project Blackstone

Probably mutalisk before ultralisk. So far it's been moving up the tech tree, and unless there's a deviation from the one story a week formula, that means we get two more stories before HotS comes out. So yeah, guessing that the mutalisk and ultralisk will feature.

I guess it makes sense in another way-the WoL stories all focused on/featured a SC2 unit, so the HotS ones are going retro because all the new zerg units are (I'm guessing) developed in-universe in the campaign. Or maybe the writers wanted to go back to the classics. Go figure.

Whatever the case, it's an excellent thing. I welcome almost anything that underlines the fact that SC2 is the sequel to Brood War, because in that regard, WoL was sorely lacking. I don't think we would have stupid lines such as "Gods! Who could possibly create a Protoss/Zerg hybrid?" if the writers had seriously considered how their work would tie with Brood War.

Yeah, no wonder he likes the way she thinks, he taught her ^^

Ayers is more or less the main character, he considers himself a supporter of the regime and other Dominion scientists say his theory is stupid. We know what this means: what he says is right, he will find out his daughter died because of the Dominion, and he will turn against Arcturus

If the Dominion didn't tell him his daughter is dead, that's more nonsense from them. Technically they didn't even kill her. "I'm terribly sorry Mr. Ayers, the battlecruiser on which you daughter traveled suddenly blew up, there were no survivors. We believe it was a sabotage." would be fine and verifiable. They could even throw a few lines about how her heroic actions on the planet gave them precious information about the banelings, cue Dominion flag flying in the wind. Hey, do you think the Dominion would hire me as a propaganda counselor? I think I could help improving their public image and morale in their ranks.
    *beat*
    But that would be wrong.

Come to think of it, Talise Cogan is a fairly major character too, in as much that she's had an entry on the site in addition to the twitter feeds. If the project storyline goes until the Second Great War, as far as the Dominion abandoning Ariel, and keeping in mind the Valentine's banter the two had in said twitter feeds...

...well, it would be a better love story than Twilight I guess.

Send in your resume. Holographic format only. I expect at least three references. Umojan and Kel-Morian ones don't count.

I was discussing with Turalyon on the Teacher thread, and suddenly realized that if Project Blackstone happens shortly after Project Tamed, as the last log seems to imply, Loew's betrayal could very well explain why the members of Blackstone are treated so poorly. Canceling a party just because someone complained is needlessly severe, but Loew killed dozens of people with little warning other than expressing doubts about her orders. I can imagine a dictatorship entering paranoid mode for the next few months and creating absurd rules until they calm down.
It's still stupid to mistreat your top scientists, but in that context, it would be more understandable.

Well, I worked with the guy who built Augustgrad in Mass Recall, the remake of the Starcraft 1 campaign. I also oversaw the use of propaganda billboards in the final Zerg campaign, notably replacing "The Dominion keeps you safe" with "Obedience is safety" when the posters were to be seen in non-civilian areas. I also worked a bit on the cutscene showing a pro-Dominion riot during the Liberation of Korhal, to make it more dynamic and interesting for the viewer. Does that count?

It's been updated, with a long post by Ayers.

Ayer's "Singing Cells" theory reminds me of Rupert Sheldrake's theory of morphic fields. I wonder if it might be a combination of this and higher breeds having a direct influence on genetics.
    Aaand sold.

Project Tamed seems to occur storywise during Project Blackstone. By crossreferencing the tweet dates with the "yesterday was Thursday" line, and by cross-referencing the dates of 2013 with 2503 and 2504, worked out that the events occur in January/February 2504, with the tweet dates corresponding to the ones in said months. Does mean that Ayers thought Valentine's Day was on Feb. 15th rather than the 14th though...

The problem with the security notion is that Blackstone's paranoia was there from the start. Still, with SGW looming, guess Mengsk has more cause to be worried.

I'm sorry, but the position has already been filled. However, we will keep your resume in our database should we feel the need to contact you again.

Site's been updated again. This time a conversation between Ayers and Cogan. Tying in with Frenzy, the project's moved on to mutalisk research.

And a certain professor named Jake Ramsey has joined their ranks...
