Aaand sold.
Be it through hallowed grounds or lands of sorrow
The Forger's wake is bereft and fallow
Is the residuum worth the cost of destruction and maiming;
Or is the shaping a culling and exercise in taming?
The road's goal is the Origin of Being
But be wary through what thickets it winds.
I don't know if it's worth posting here anymore, which is sad as this forum was a huge part of all my starcraft fan projects. I had previously made a long post with links to other sites I'm on if you are interested in keeping in touch, but it got wiped. I still have a deviantart, a vimeo, and use reddit. I am still making SC stuff when time allows. Right now I happen to be working on a defiler.
We'll see if this post stays up?

Nice defiler! How are you creating your texture maps?
The texture on this one is superb. Pretty amazing, actually.

Haha, I love the finished piece! I love that you retained the "Joker grin" / extended mouth of Mr Jack's iteration, and the mephistophelian chin, while making these characteristics less goofy and more natural. Love the texture work on that front and thorax!
Can we get a close up of that face? You got my StarCraft art itch going now...

Thanks! Here is a closer shot with the mouth slightly open. Doesn't quite hold up to this level of detail.
I textured it in Substance Painter, which is a program I really love and have been slowly improving with. So while I now have models for about half of all the zerg units, the older ones definitely don't hold up as well.
Much more impressive than that still image, here is a gif / html5 video showing it in motion with a couple different animations:

Oh I also never posted this one here as it was during site downtime, but I did a SC1-style ultra. Also largely based on Mr Jack's unused Heart of the Swarm Torrasque concept, but with the face more based on the original old-school Samwise manual concept art, and with a slightly SCG influence.

These are awesome, dude. That ultra is a beast, but I'm obsessed with that Defiler. When Blizzard hires you, maybe you can influence them to a return to form!
I'm going to have to look into this Substance Painter. I've never been good with skinning or UVs.

@Robear dude... I'll echo everyone and say these are amazing! Do you rig and animate too?
I do rig and animate them, but I know extremely little about rigging, so they are pretty minimal / barely functional rigs.
I don't know if I am going to keep posting here with the site downtime as unpredictable as it is. It's not encouraging to put time into writing out posts if there's a strong chance they will all be randomly inaccessible. But, small update, I did a model of the SC1 Queen.
Slightly higher quality gfycat link here.
