Instead of trying to form one group to remedy all of America's problems, how about they stay true to the name and focus on Wall Street reform. Would have been infinitely more successful, which is what I had expected them to do.

Yeah, sorry I didn't clarify my points before Ty--uh... Hey Tychus, get your hair cut or... something?...

Well basically, I agree with Occupy Wall Street on WS regulations; either putting a cap on lobbyist donations or doing away with them entirely; doing away with Super Pacs. Basically, limiting the influence of money on politics and elections.

No, I'm not one of those people who broadly throws all rich people into the "Fuck these blokes" category. Generalizations like that only steer you wrong. (I also think the whole Big Government vs. Small Gov't, and Socialization vs Privitization argument, aren't what we should be debating over.) But I DO think companies and rich individuals almost certainly owe a percentage of their profits and gains to society, on grounds that they most likely own a company that is or was, in some form or another, supported by tax-payer dollars. I'm a big fan of Elizabeth Warren, too.

I was very disappointed by OWS's lack of focus and drive, as well. It/we should have focused on Wall Street reform. If and when that succeeded, it would set a precedent. So even if that was the only message, then perhaps it would have an indirect influence on other things in our society and country.
    Aaand sold.

Very sensible and reasonable, however, I doubt there's many people who disagree with you in the way that you've presented your opinion. The difference of opinion is in how to reach those goals.

Ignoring the comments previous to my last one, how would my presentation of my opinion be disagreeable?

EDIT Nevermind, misread your post, Ty -- Er, Economist. (That's gonna take some getting used to.)

Then how would we reach those goals best?

I mean, I think our ultimate issue is one of society. People are pretty egocentric and self-centered. And that's all politics is, in my opinion: "Oh, my candidate is THE candidate. All the others are complete morons and everyone who opposes my views is senseless." Liberals, Conservatives; Republicans and Democrats. Everyone does this. And when it comes to debating these topics, it's less about finding common ground and weighing sensible arguments, but more about Being Right, about Beating The Other Guy. And I hate that.

Anyways, the true, underlying issues are at a fundamental level, but by that very nature seems omnipresent and overwhelming. I think the best thing to do, to preserve my sanity, is to just to outreach and volunteer work. To just help people around me and hope it's paid forward.

I think he's calling me a bleeding-heart liberal. Which is totally true.
