Yeah, so this happened. What are your thoughts on it?
The best thing I can see coming out of this is a Star Wars level in Kingdom Hearts.

Aaand sold.
Be it through hallowed grounds or lands of sorrow
The Forger's wake is bereft and fallow
Is the residuum worth the cost of destruction and maiming;
Or is the shaping a culling and exercise in taming?
The road's goal is the Origin of Being
But be wary through what thickets it winds.

As if Star Wars didn't have enough child-focused products. It has WARS in the goddamn title, and yet everything I see has it marketed to children. Action figures to the Clone Wars TV series. Even the Bioware MMO couldn't have blood or sex scenes so it'd be accessible to younger players.
WTF 'Merica?

I'm sure you know that 'Merica has one of the most lax video game content regulations in the world, especially when it comes to violence. Just look at video game shitstorms in Nordic countries, Australia, and even your blessed Canada. UK and Germany are also no strangers to violence video game shitstorms. All America has really had are GTA rants from parents, when kids were killing kids "because of the game," not just because it offended them, like in the above countries.
I'm sure you also know that governmental regulations had nothing to do with EA's desire to tone down the content to get more money, so I'll leave you some dignity left and stop there. Or do I need to get out more graphs before you cower away again?

My biggest concern really is how much they're going to be retconning what's already established. I'm not talking about the prequel era -- the Clone Wars are a shitstorm of contradictions; case in point, Adi Gallia was spoilered by General Grievous, and later on spoilered again by Darth Maul.
No, I want the Thrawn-era books and NJO series left alone and intact. But the odds of that happening are slim.
All this said, I can't wait until the Star Wars remake several decades down the line.

So, yeah, Episode VIII.
Let's hope it isn't terrible.
For those interested.
