Thread: Favorite SC2 Terrain?

    Jungle. Bee-yuu-tiful looking water.

Tileset is cool, not necessarily because of the graphics, but because of the stuff you can do in an urban tileset.

Space platform is awesome too. I almost voted this one instead of jungle, and had to resort to map design for the tie-breaker. (Scrapyard doesn't look suited for practice league.)

There must be a Terran space platform and a Xel'Naga space platform.
    Space platform was awesome...
BTW, that reminds me, is there any official explanation about who built the space platforms in SC1?

that also makes me wonder what zergs breathe in space platforms (if they do at all, that reminded me the mutalisk issue)

The platforms were built by terrans. You could have learned that information from the battle.net maps information. (I think the manual also says they were built by SCVs in the SCV section.)

Zerg run entirely off of minerals and vespene gas.

The city tileset was probably the last thing they worked on. I'll repeat what I said before, wait till the game is released. I've seen huge improvements to the scenery from every release. It is the major things that Blizzard art deparment is working on. It's funny that there is still a good half a year till the release of the game and people are complaining about the environment.

I say way, and reserve your judgement. Beta hasn't even started!

    Good for you.

Maybe you should take your own advice then, and stop complaining about the Protoss airforce until the game ships.

And last but not least, my complaint about the city tileset was that you're building buildings on top of buildings, as well as mining minerals. Are you telling me that's going to change? Or are you just illiterate/ignorant of what people say?

In fact, no one in this thread is even complaining about anything. Just goes to show you like to jump to conclusions, in a thread titled "Favorite SC2 Terrain?" with the first sentence of the first post in this thread including the words "SO FAR."

...And food and sleep (Shadow Hunters). Space platforms have been clarified to have air and gravity generators in the novels.

As for the city, Command & Conquer 3 has city tilesets used in multiplayer maps. The tricks are to leave lots of open spaces (military bases built at vespene/mineral sites conveniently located in parks) and to have some sort of color-coded shade mechanic for when units go behind buildings.

I guess marines are really the only basic unit capable of fighting on open space asteroids and such.

Zealots don't wear helmets (they're just as badass as Warhammer Force Commanders) and the Zerg... well, depends on if the Zerg need oxygen or not.

Of course... it's always possible that the Zealot's oxygen is fed through to him via some other means in his combat suit. But then I wonder how he deals with the vacuum of space.
