Brevik is not at fault here. He didn't insult the new team, he just said that they didn't follow his original vision. Nothing wrong with that. We all have different opinions on what is fun and etc. Wilson needs to chill down.

The second question of that interviewer is partially to blame as well. Brevik pretty much answered his question the first time and that response was actually very neutral.

That is until the interviewer asks it again, but in a leading manner showing his own bias (it seems the interviewer is the one that's "let-down" in regards to how the "legacy" of Diablo has been "mashed up"). Pure flamebait, I reckon.

Brevik might not have a good record on game design but I think his comments are apt. It seems many design decisions were made without a good understanding of the industry and the previous Diablo mechanics. I'm not so sure BoP items would have made a better solution but the status-quo clearly isn't functioning with a massive amount of useless items in the AH.

In my opinion, Jay Wilson made a decent game. However, compared to other industry games and the previous games in the Diablo franchise the overall result is trite at best. This might be ameliorated in future patches but I would still think Diablo 3 did not deliver by industry standards.
