Couldn't tell you. At the July press event the demo only went two missions into the Hyperion and I was only able to get a few upgrades, the missile turrets not being my main focus. That's one wonderful thing about the SC2 single-player, is its infinite replayability using different strategies and upgrades.

Waaaaaaaaaaaay back to the original idea.... I think that turrets are really bland, I agree with that... Yeah in single player there is a lot of cool stuff going on, there are perdition flamethrower turrets, that thing is so cool, I dont remember very well but i think that there is also an upgrade for bunkers, that gives them a miniturret on top of it... but all that stuff its only available at single player.
I wonder why they cant put those turrets into multiplayer. Zerg defenses got a very simple change (mobility), but that minimun change gave them a new depth into the game. Terran turrets, and photon cannons are the same thing that used to be in SC1, which i think its pretty stupid since the game has been in development several years... Has nobody at Blizzard got nice ideas for Terran and Protosss defenses??????
I think that since we lost our dear firebats for multiplayer, perdition flamthrower turrets can be a simple solution for defenses.... So u can choose Battlecruiser style which turret u want to have, Missile or flamethrower...
And for the protosss..... Hell i dont know... maybe an upgrade that lets them attack two targets at the same time... or mini psiblades for melee attackes...

Hell I got an idea. What happened to our current missile defense systems?
The ones in SC1 are archaic compared to what we use right now.
An expensive upgrade and maybe some food to deter spamming, with user activated or auto cast (with cool down of course).
"Missile Turret Battery site upgrade"
150 minerals
Missile turret gains 150HP
+10 damage
75 Energy Spell [Auto cast possible] Fires off a volley of rockets that explode in an AOE area. These rockets deal ( I dunno, SC1 valkryrie damage - scaled into SC2?)
The rockets could do an effect? -X armor from targets for a short period of time?
200 Energy pool
Starts of with 40 energy
1 Food supply cost
Or something along those lines..

Well, at least Turrets can be Salvaged. Photon Cannons are kept the same. They aren't even called Phase Cannons anymore.
